Thinking bout selling my GTX 480s

Hey guys, the new rig I got about a month ago now I decided to splash out and get 2 GTX 480s for and SLI setup.

Over the past month I have started to regret it, not because of performance, but because of cost, where I could have got myself 5870s for almost half the price and I wouldnt say any noticeable difference in performance.

So before new technology comes out and the 480s take another drop in price I am thinking about selling and getting myself a couple of 5870's.

What do you guys think?

(mods I am not using this thread as an advertisement so please dont close)

TBH you've got them now. If you sell them you are going to take a big hit on what you paid for them, and then by the time you buy two more new 5870's the money you actually retrieve is going to be pretty trivial.

I'd just stick to what you've got and just not worry about having to upgrade for a very long time.

Stick with them... SLI is a bit better multi GPU wise than crossfire.

Or just stick a single GTX470 in there and add another one if you really feel like performance isn't upto it (which it probably will be at anything upto and including 1920x).

I say stick with what you have. They should last you a long time

And if you decide to sell, then I'm sure someone here will be happy to take them off your hands for the right price;)

Keep your two GTX 480s mate. If they offer good performance, then keep them! No point in selling, and then buying again. Just wastes time and money.

To the OP,

how much did they cost you?

what will you get for them?

and how much money will you pocket after getting the new cards?

Cut your losses and flog them to me for £200.

Can't say fairer than that.

As said you have them now so might as well keep them they should give you a few good years use and sell pretty well when you finally upgrade as top rung Nvidia cards generally keep a pretty good price even after a couple of years.

If the money you potentially pocket could get you something nice then why not? If your res isn't super high then a single gtx 480 would probably be enough anyway.
