Letters from Ministry Of Sound - Who had had one?

Was it delivered by recorded delivery? If not then...what letter?

The law doesn't work like that. It assumes that any letter sent by standard first class Royal Mail is received within two working days, regardless of whether it got lost in the post or not. Try ignoring a NIP for speeding using that little line, see how far it gets you. :p

Guessing the law company representing them is ACS Law...

Link reading fail. It's Gallant Macmillan doing the letter writing this time.

Don't use torrent and he won't get any letters.

If you must use torrent then make sure to clear what you've downloaded when it's finished!!

Or is the idiot still using Limewire???

Didn't they make it law now so you are responsible for your wireless network, if you leave it open you are liable?

Was it proposed?

Or am I making it up now?

i believe that this is indeed now the case. users of wireless network technology are assumed to be legally responsible for the consequences of its use.

Thought so..

You can't say it wasny me, or I left it open or I don't know what a wireless router is. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

So is the OP's "friend" screwed?

Maybe, dunno. Probably, who cares?

:p

This was why it was closed up legally afaik, to stop downloaders saying it wasn't them through various get outs. Now, under law... you cannot say you are ignorant because the law(court) does not recognise this excuse..

I think this, and the various other internet related bills, were probably a result of Peter Mandleson being whisked away across the world on yachts and getting his bum tickled.

Limewire is bad? :s
Is Frostwire any better?

Is Torrenting safer or less safe than Frost/Limewire?

frost/limewire are terrible, virus, rootkit and malware infested pieces of feculent faeces.

Torrenting is, MUCH safer, and is still dangerously unsafe, with regards to being caught.

Thats what I was referring more to. The iMac has a anti-virus that scans for viruses for when I give files to friends with PCs.

Which is better for not being caught? :S

why are you talking about piracy or alternative methods to downloading, you can use torrents provided what you download are not illegal or pirated!

If you had not noticed, most of these letters seem to be going to people who haven't actually downloaded anything.

And when did I mention piracy?

Besides I'm interested in this newsgroup stuff and would like to know more?

As far as I know, that is not illegal....yet!!!

Anyway as far a torrent s are concerned, can't you simply use PeerBlocker.
