RICHARD GERE!!!

Dear christ he is terrible, very south park ish.

Watching the Jackal on channel 5, and it is the worst display of an Irish accent I have ever seen. Funny though!! :D

(thanks for the info, jesus loves you, kthxbai)

Sean Connery in The Untouchables beats Richard Gere hands down, I would also nominate Shirr Sean in the categories of worst Russian accent (Hunt For The Red October) and worst Egyptian accent (Highlander), he's a contender in the worst English accent stakes too (League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen) but I fear he will get pipped to the post for that one, possibly a late challenge by Kevin Costner (Robin Hood Prince of Thieves).

I always thought Rameriez was Spanish?

A few people have suggested that based on the name but (and I know it's not the most authoritative source), Wikipedia agrees he's Egyptian so unless I can be bothered scanning through the DVD tomorrow for when he introduces himself that's as definitive as I'll be getting. :)

Dubious accents are forgivable when we're talking about quality films (The Untouchables, The Hunt for Red October and Robin Hood Prince of Thieves being three of my favourites, haha.

They're all enjoyable films but why does anyone even pretend that Sir Sean is going to be anything other than distinctly Scottish in them. I did forget his woeful English accent as King Richard in RHPoT too.

Accents are always a funny one. Actors don't forget are used just to get bums on seats. I find a bad accent just as annoying as somebody not even bothering, e.g. Tom Cruise as an 'American' Nazi.

It was bad when I though it was Spanish.

If it was meant to be an Egyptian accent that makes it 100 times worse. This is the worst attempt at an accent ever /thread tbh.

Actually speaking of Highlander, Chris Lambert Scottish accent was equally as fail.

It's one of those films though that you wish the the guy (Willis) completed what he was meant to do and then vanishes in the end.

I guess it would never have been allowed unfortunately. But still why oh why did he have to spend 5 minutes zooming into her eyebrow!...

Worst English accent is Brion James in Tango & Cash, its hilarious. Sean Connery and Kevin Costner are just lazy :D

It just seems odd he won an oscar for a performance which also gets labelled as the worst accent in a film, ever.

I'll have to credit the Academy for looking beyond the accent then and seeing a good performance as while I frequenly disagree with polls that one is absolutely on the money with his Irish accent.

Ah, I'd completely forgotten about that one or perhaps expunged it from my memory would be closer to the truth but you're right it was terrible.

Brad Pitt in The Devils Own

Gabrielle Anwar in Burn Notice ( the first few episodes of Season 1 ) gets the vote from me. Absolutely terrible, she quietly reduced it to a mere hint of Oirishness after the 1st few episodes

Worst English accent Johnny Depp in From Hell

Worst American accent, Jason Statham in The One
