So who's got an XBOX "Slim" coming this week?

Had mine on for 22 minutes yesterday. Everything was fine.

:D

Saw one in a highstreet store yesterday running a game and it was very quiet but the case looked like poo already. Shame they don't do a matt finish one yet.

I could do with more HDD space but don't see how this represents good value when you can buy a 250gb HDD and an Arcade with 3 years warranty for £145ish?

I install games anyway so noise isn't an issue so the only time it would be quieter is when playing a dvd movie.

Yeah the wifi is a bonus but only if you need it, ready for kinect well thats worthless isn't it because the original xbox's are ready for kinect. The only difference is the original xbox's will have a seperate power lead for the eyetoy thingy which comes in the package anyway.

As tempted as you sound dannyjo22, I don't think the new Xbox is for you.

well it is for me as its my first "console" since atari days "Had PCs since they existed" and boy that controller is taken some getting used 2 :-)

BTW playing Red Redemption mostly at the moment "ATM".

It's not because I'm tight, I'd rather have exactly the same system for £145 or less minus wireless which is offset by the 3 yerar warranty. The super elite is likely to be as reliable as the new one, I'd wager the drives pack in first now before the system. For me it just doesn't represent value for money. Noise isn't an issue because the best thing to do is install anyway and save wear on the drive.

£150 I think should be the price point for these new ones to be value for money to not buy an arcade and slap on a 250gb drive for £42.

Yes, unforutnately though when buying latest tech value for money isn't always high on the agenda.

I upgraded mine for the form factor (I like it very much), the built in wireless (means I can get rid of some trailing wires), the bigger HDD (20gb was soon full up and I found myself having to delete things just to make room for others) and the much quieter system (it really is a big improvement). Visually, it fits in much better in my AV stand now too.

The nicer control and improved headset are small bonuses.

I went out and bought one yesterday; have experienced a couple of disc read errors on my 3 year old Elite recently so thought I'd take the plunge and get it traded in before something more drastic goes wrong.

Haven't had a chance to plug it in yet as I was round the gf's yesterday but I took it out the box and it looks very nice. Wasn't a fan of how it looked in the photos but it's lovely in the flesh.

My 16GB USB stick isn't up to the job of working with my 360 so I also bought the data transfer kit to save having to purchase another mem stick. It's so much easier and it'll just go on eBay when I'm done.

my 360 arcade is having problems reading the discs and only playing them when it wants to, i was going to wait a while to buy a new one but i have the money so i thought why not and placed my order for a new slim this morning it should be here tomorow :D

Don't forget to add the price of a wireless adaptor.

Good point, something which I imagine would apply to the new console too. In any case, if the 360 S started showing concerning failure rates, I'm sure MS wouldn't have a leg to stand on when it comes to disputing warranty length.

Got mine today at 4:30pm finally after waiting all day! The power brick is definitely smaller but makes more noise than the console itself. The console feels lighter but it doesn't really look smaller.

Is anyone running it on a PC monitor using a VGA cable by the way? I'm using a VGA cable that I bought years ago to use with my Core model, which I imagine should be ok? The PC monitor doesn't have a HDMI or scart socket on it, hence the VGA cable.

Does it have DVI? I recently switched from VGA to HDMI on my monitor and the difference was superb.

Got mine this morning and it does look a lot nicer than it does in pictures. like others have said its very quiet but its just the brick thats making noise, i compared them in size and there isnt much difference but when the new 360 s is on its own it looks tiny.

i have all my games installed now (apart from GH: Metallica ) and used the data transfer cable with the old 20GB hdd, no problems so far :)

I managed to pick mine up at 1am from the Swansea **** store. I got home and went though the re-set up and transferred all my data to the new 360 slim and went to bed.

Looks great, sounds quiet and I can play games again as my older model 360 died. It runs warm from the top vents and I have not really had a chance for a prolonged session on it, but all in all , if you need a new one, as I did its great. I have not tried the wireless settings as I prefer wired and I only wish you could install the games to the hdd and not have to have the disc in the tray. Best all the mrs has not YET sussed the shiney black box is a new one... . . . . . now just need more time to play as ever!
