Does the average layman understand basic genetics to the level that they would be able to figure out why a baby with two black people comes out white? No, realistically, of course they don't.
How come it seems to happen with black couple but not white couple (black child)

I didn't phrase it well did i. What I meant was surely people have heard of this before & know why it happens. Not news at all let alone Front page news.
I would have thought so, as everyone knows you can inherit stuff from your grandparents that your parents dont have.

just because something has happened before does not make it any less infrequent or newsworthy...
for instance, if a skyscraper got hit by a terrorist wielding plane tomorrow, should it make the news- its happened before?
