I got asked this question and i dont know the answer :(

anyways the guy asked me is 60gb enough for the operating system to be installed on and couple of months, can he add another 60gb SSD in raid 0???

It will be as an OS itself only takes up about 8gb or less, so you will also get two or three games on it aswell :)

Seen plenty of people who use this as a boot drive with a few games on it too, so yeah should be fine. 60gb is about the sweet spot for an SSD right now I think.

What about RADI 0, so if i wanted to upgrade down the line, can i install another SSD drive exactly the same one and put them in raid 0 ? so my OS will load faster, games are better E.T.C?

I'm using a 64gb Crucial M225 SSD and Windows 7 Ultimate, COD4, BC2 and the odd program take up 47gb.

Everything else is on my other HD.

I have a 30gb Kingston SSD and with Win7 home premium, and a couple of small programmes on there I still have 10gb spare.

Got hibernation turned off though that uses another 5 or so.

How will games be better?

They may load a touch faster but they wont be "better".

thats what i meant the load time fo games are better lol :P

soz for incorrect grammer :(

I type really fast and sometimes make mistakes like i will be thinking of typing something, but skip a few words :P

I have Win7 X64 installed and it can take more than you think

I currently have a Intel X25-V Value 40GB for my laptop

I have WOW installed on it which takes about 19GB, the rest of the Space is taking up by windows and thats with the page file uninstalled and no system restore and hibernation.

After all this i only have 1.5gb left hence why i have just bought a 64GB SSD and im in the process of selling the Intel 40GB on the MM

A 60GB drive is fine and you should have space for a 2-3 games,a 40GB drive is way to small for a OS and apps these days imo

Plenty of capacity spare after the install.

60Gb + is fine IMO with a little headroom for OS updates and your run of the mill daily usage software.

My 100gb does me just fine with plenty of headroom (40Gb ish) but keep the majority of your games/steam account and other data on other drives is the best way to go.

People rave about Raid 0 arrays but in all honesty for the effort they are a waste.

What you don't see much in the forum threads is the amount of array failures that occur, because peeps won't tell you it's gone t*** up, and time wasted assembling and breaking down arrays, reinstalling OS's and the rest of it.

A super douper quick loading game is all very well but if you have no skill it won't matter a fig.

RANT over :)

I got the intel 80gb drive and all i have on it is win 7 and adobe cs5 and small programs and only have 28gb left :( confuses me loool

I've never tried out a SSD before - how much difference is there really?

You notice the difference more if you go back to a system or use someone else's without one to be honest.

Everything seems really snappy when at desktop.

Boot times vary dependent on what you have installed and hardware attached.
