Recommend me a FPS for the PS3!

Hi guys, just got a PS3. I'd like a FPS game to blast at. I'd like a sci-fi type with aliens/monsters and loads of interesting weapons. Preferably also one for which cheats are available!

Any suggestions?
 
Killzone 2 - sure it can be picked up for about a tenner now. good gameplay with some great grpahics too - well worth it
 
Aliens and loads of interesting weapons? Resistance 2, you don't need to have played the first to get the second tbh, the storylines are pretty basic.

Some of the best weapons:
A gun that fires through walls but also can create a shield that only it can shoot through.
A gun that slows down time
A gun that fires weak bullets that can then be triggered to explode (usually when embedded in an enemy)
A gun that fires a 'tag' round, then all rounds fired after that will hit wherever the tag originally hit, Fifth Element style.

There are no aliens and monsters or interesting weapons (loads of good weapons, they just all shoot normal bullets) in Killzone 2 so i'm unsure why people are recommending that, good game mind, but not what you're after.

I say Resistance > Resistance 2 > Killzone 2

KillZone have such a clunky control system though, and just lacks the fluidness during gameplay

The demo of Resistance though looks like a PS2 game.

Killzone 2 looks great but is a little bland and dare I say boring. I'm about half way through it atm and I'm losing the will to carry on.

I'd recommend Bioshock and Bioshock 2 which are two of the games of the generation, and have you played Half Life 2 (Orange Box?). Also I know you said sci fi but Modern Warfare 1 & 2 are great cinematic experiences with tight handling.
 
resistance 2 is garbage, fall of man has far better gameplay even if it looks a bit more brown the graphics engine is solid and fun.

and no it doesnt look like a ps2 game.

Actually in many ways RFOM feels a lot like HL1
 
i'd say battlefield 2 bad company, so much more impressive than a lot of the other shooters on the ps3.

after playin this i really struggled with the controls on killzone 2

Lolwut as usual.

Bioshock is marmite imo, I found both boring after an hour.

OP imo Killzone 2 is decent deffo worth the play for online alone. Don't forget to turn on high precision mode in settings if you are use to cod controls.

Resistance 2 is ok and can be had for peanuts. But does anyone else feel the aiming system just feels slightly weird in R2? There is no feedback for bullet hits so it kind of feels like your bullets aren't really doing anything. Resistance 1 is 2.98 on the highstreet cant go wrong for that price.

I agree actually, I've finished both the Bioshock games and on 1st play, Bioshock 1 was brilliant. A different game with a good story, and I enjoyed playing it. However Bioshock 2 I wasnt too keen on, completed it but it never really got my full attention like the first. just more of the same old
 
I know its not a fps but it is one of the best shooters on the ps3, army of two 2, loads of guns, loads of story get to make choices etc, immense co op too. Only suggest this as fps on ps3 has never been great. But this is just opinion remember! :D
 
I'd agree with dalin on what he is saying. Resistance 1 was absolutely amazing tbh, resistance 2 was just a bit, meh.

Killzone 2 is a quality game thats often overlooked.

Touched up/downscaled image but it's not a bad looking game still.

Both of them are pretty poor anyway, I thought the second was better than the first at least and the co-op online stuff is 2 is pretty good.

Resistance just falls victims to being another FPS, it brings nothing really decent to the table that we've not seen before, it's not particularly solid either I never liked the shooting in it one bit.
 
I liked Bioshock and Bioshock 2 a lot.

Currently playing Killzone 2 (welcome to 2009 I know) but was thinking what the High Precision option actually does?
 
just found this description of high precision;

"When this option is switched on, it makes the analog sticks more responsive to small movements," explains multiplayer lead designer Eric Boltjes. "Turned off, the controls behave exactly as they did before the patch. It’s not a radical overhaul of the control system, so the layout and the ‘weight’ of the controls remain the same."

to be honest i havent noticed a difference with it
