So after looking at some horrid cars, my gf decided to take (wealthy) daddy dearest along to a viewing yesterday, and he has bought her this:

Suffice to say, my gf is VERY excited!

48k on the clock, full VW service history, all MOTs, taxed til Dec, MOT til July 2011, almost immaculate condition inside and out which is impressive for a 6 year old car.

1.6L MK5 SE FSI

Her dad even for the guy down to £5.5k, nice!

Nice replacement for the S-reg A3 that got written off methinks.

Free car , can't complain also Daddy got involved so it'll be a good car, if you found her the car everything would be your fault and she should have listened to her daddy (womens logic) = win win

Where to find girlfriends with wealthy daddys?

Decent girls motor that for sure, i'd rather my hyperthetical girlfriend drove around in that than some of the other cars girls for

I'm sure it will suit her perfectly. It looks tidy and a 1.6 SE is the perfect spec for a young woman living in London imo. Much more practical than the stupid Mini that every other women seems to pine after these days.

I take it with the two doors that you're not expecting any mini-Krootons in the near future then. Personally when buying a car whose main attribute is practicality, I wouldn't cripple it by buying a two door, but that's just me :p.

Ha, my other half is like this, except her Dad comes to me for advice on cars :p

Her A3 was 2-door, and it's mainly just us 2 in the car 95% of the time.

We're not married yet, so no babies til after that, and this car is to be kept for 2-3 year only. Mileage should be just below 80k at that point, so we could still get a semi-decent return on it.

I think my gf will be even more pleased now that it has the Fox "I'd get that if forced to get a hatch" seal of approval :D

Not a bad car but personally I'd have been more drawn to a 1.6 Civic Exec - equally as good if not better and could most likely have been had for £1,000 less.

That's surprisingly pleasant on the eye. I really like the colour actually and that's a damn good price.

Out of interest, why didn't you get a Focus or a Mondeo? ;)

Mk5 golfs are 6 years old now, time really does fly. Price is good too, Im sure Mk4's were commanding this sort of money not so long ago.
