Metro 2033 - Excellent

Mmm cannot remember having any problems with the enemy soldiers at the end, but then again I didn't use a shotgun.

I used one of the assault rifles with a scope and a silencer :)
 
Hi Guys

I've finished Stalker SoC and CoP... which i really enjoyed, wish they hadnt ended. Should i play Metro 2033 too, heard its not as good or as long as Stalker tho?

It is indeed shorter and it's also sort of completely the opposite of Stalker's open world. This game is pretty much a linear shooter but it does have great atmosphere and better looking set pieces.
 
I love the little touches in this game. A major one would be for accessing the journal he pulls out his leather bound book and takes out a lighter to read with. Very atmospheric and much better than a magical journal window appearing.
 
As already said, rather linear in parts but very good game indeed. If your system can handle it the visuals are awesome. :)
 
I think i'll get it... not to fused if its linear.

A game just needs to have that 'fun factor' for me to like it.
 
I installed from DVD and registered to steam which has updated it. When i click play I get the message:

"The application has failed to start because PhysXloader.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem".

I have a 5870 so what PhysX??

yeah as stated in my earlier post i got a similar issue - reinstalling physx solved it no problem:

I went to Steamapps folder in the install file then load "PhysX_10.02.22_9.10.0222_SystemSoftware" which uninstalls physx then click it again and it reinstalled. It still wont run from the desktop shortcut or Steam shortcut but it does load from the exe where it's saved :confused:

New problem now the mouse acceleration compared horizontal to vertical is weird horizontal is really fast and vertical is snails pace. Any fix for this? Is it an Eyefinity only thing?

HA, i just changed the options to DX 11 and High and it said restart game for them to take effect, now it boots and then i get to the "Press any key" screen i get 2-3 FPS and it doesnt load the menus (black screen only) and the music is playing intermittently.

I did this and had the same problem. Then I rebooted, and it worked.
 
Regarding the mouse speed thing i think it scales with your resolution. Playing @ 1920 x 1200 with lowest sensitivity still was a bit too fast for me so i just used a 360 controller instead.
 
wow just finished in the tunnels, scary stuff! GPU under 100% load max temp 76ºC at 31 % fan speed. this game eats the pc!
