Metro 2033 - Excellent

no one got a way to max the x and y axis mouse speeds?

I found i can set different x and y sensitivities in the MX518 Logitech Setpoint software so have the vert at 1800dpi and hor at 400dpi - game is now playable in Eyefinity, although i could do with a second gfx card!

Just started playing this myself :)

Bought in a 2 for £25 deal along with Assasins Creed.

I always had an interest in the game but just couldn't warrant the full price but since I got my HD5870 I had to get something with DX11 and the game is stuuuuuuunning!!! :D

Just finished the first chapter, the one tram/convoy through the tunnels, it was just so atmospheric expecially the bit when you have to run to the end.

Game seems good to me so far so hopefully it will keep interesting until the end. The only problem I have is that it doesnt work with my amBX stuff in DX11 :( only does in DX9

This game, and the STALKER series, is one of the reasons I love PC gaming :D

Excellent, slightly low budget games, that just deliver! Amazing from what I've played of it so far :)

Just wait till you get to the end!
I had no bullets. No point saving your special ammo either, as i did.

I didnt spend mine on a silenced weapon when i really needed one and couldnt load the previous bit to change my mind grrr

Having the issue where it crashes on start up. Google didn't reveal much. Any ideas guys? I'm running a 5870.

I cant load it at all with AA set to MSAA4x using 5870, it runs at less than 1fps. Try setting AA to AAA in the two user.ini folders and see if that makes a difference - you might be able to do that using the launcher i linked above (i havent tried it yet).

Cheers, got it working when I re-installed my graphics drivers. Go figure.

Played for an hour just now and still in two minds. My poor 5870 is working its nuts off for not much. Graphics is pretty but not THAT pretty that my card need to run in the mid 70's Celsius. Other than that, the game-play seems a bit clunky and same same. The monsters is very well made (graphics-wise) but are as stupid as a packet of crisps. All I do is funnel them into a narrow corridor and have them run straight into my shotgun. The levels is well though out but I can see myself tiring of the same type environment (if the game makes you stay underground for the whole duration).

Other than that, worth the tenner I paid for it.

You're mad to pay almost £11 for Metro when you can get it as part of the THQ pack. For £15 more you get a mountain of extra gaming.

Not necessarily; I already own(ed) the THQ Pack but I bought it before Metro 2033 was included, so that mountain is actually a bit of molehill.

just bought and finished this today short game but quite enjoyable.

cant say i had any issues with stealth like someone in the thread was saying on page 2, i was able to take out guards with throwing knives/silenced weapons without alterting any others aslong as i took them down fast.

the game has its flaws though like the place where you can buy the armor, i had nowhere near enough money to buy it and it seemed to be the only place that sold it :S

i cant see anyone beeing able to buy it unless they knew to save for it in the first place from a spoiler.

i thought the game was more fun before some of the mutants took a million shots to die , i prefer games where you can get fast takes downs from headshots etc rather than games that are only about hitting something a million times while running around a room like a screaming girl trying not to get hit.

if the next source engine was anything like this i'd be fairly happy though seems a decent fps engine imo

SPOILER:

I got to admit I'm stuck on a particular section - not technical but just keep dying.

It's when your outside and you get temporarily split up from the other guy. When you join with him a number of walking mutants attack and a couple of flying mutants. No matter what I do I can't pass this bit.

Apart from get better at the game has anyone got any advice?

Just follow the compass until you get indoors again, I don't think you have the weapons at that point in the game to kill them.

I bought it ages ago on the £26 THQ pack, but never bothered playing it.

It had Titan quest included which is my type of game, but I already have that on CD, and I much prefer playing Sacred 2 or Torchlight instead as they have much more up to date graphics, plus Diablo 3 is out soon meaning I wont get much time to try out Titan Quest.

I think I'll like warhammer too, I havnt given it a try yet as I'm bored of RTS games.

Just played the demo today (3gb dl ) and it looks fairly decent. Seems to be geared toward the console user but seems like it could still be fun.

I'll wait until its around £10 or so in a steam sale before I buy it, £30 is a bit steep.
