gonna get a road buggy/quad

Its probably a good idea until you actually think about how it will look on the day.

I wanted our first dance to be all normal at first but then Michael Jackson's thriller comes on and we do some of the moves from the music video.

Sounds amusing until you actually start planning it.

Or having everyone sit down for the meal with the joints most posh of posh cuttlery and crockery and then the waiters hand everyone a happy meal. It would tickle me immensely but its whether youe guests actually find it funny or the height of cringe.

If you do something zaney your guests have to get the joke or its not funny.

why's everyone being so harsh on the guy  what people want to go to/from their wedding venues in is entirely upto them, and not indicative of the type of people they are at all.

To 99% of women the wedding day is the fairytale come true.

At what point does the fairytale involve picking dead flies out of your teeth and inhaling diesel soot from the 15 year old Peugeot 306D you'll be stuck behind all the way to the reception venue?

I predict 10 minutes of fun before one of the following:

A) It breaks and replacement parts turn out to be non existent.
B) You crash it
C) The novelty wears off and it gathers dust for a few weeks before you sell it losing hundreds in the process.

For a bit of fun for up to a grand why not but a little soft top car of some sort. Sure your budget won't buy you much but I think it would be a better purchase.

fair points, i think i will view it and have a little go and see what is what, but yeah a,b and c seem likely :)

OP will look like a tool driving that thing on public roads, I say he should get it, it's the only marriage made in heaven he'll ever experience.

Not at all. I'd not want to drive a buggy to my reception, even if both of us thought it'd be fun...I'd still get a proper car to drive her etc. and if I wanted the buggy I'd get it for some weekend fun rather than use at a wedding.

In honesty, how does the idea seem sensible? As has been said there are various things that'll mess up the 'once in a lifetime' (yes I know many get divorced and remarried, we'll ignore that) experience of getting married.

Her dress will get messed up, as will her hair etc.

As a toy for some summer fun though, don't see why not unless it'll likely throw up some huge bills, in which case, go with a cheap soft top car like an MX-5 or something which you can then possibly keep on if you enjoy driving it. :)

I dont see any Summer fun on that. It'll fall to bits if you do any serious off roading, and on the road it has all the bad points of a bike (If you crash, you die, you get cold and wet) yet none of the good points, so why bother?

Reminds me of those ridiculously chav road legal quad bikes.

I agree, its impossible to tell what anything about somebody from personal choices they make and tastes they have.

it is on the internet, but i guess if you have a million posts and that's all you do all day you properly make your opinions that like ;) - as for me i don't.

as i said i have already booked and sorted a lovely Bentley, that will take her to the church and then both of us to the reception venue. it was an idea i posted it and if im honest im swaying against the idea of doing that, people mentioned very valid points. however i may still get it for a bit of fun, i will at least view it.

i don't think you have ever written a decent post on this forum from memory, and you gags reek of "i spent 30 mins thinking of this"

Looks even more fun. :D

That's their 1100cc offroader mind.

Thats what im saying, if your going to go for it, you need the full on, **** off version :)

Why not just buy a dirt bike or something? Or buy £1000 worth of laps at a kart track?

Both more fun than a crappy 'road buggy'.

But then so is bashing yourself over the head with a brick or watching X Factor.

really! are they fairly easy to roll or were you giving beans? fun to drive ?

One could accuse me of being a... tit..

I took it "off roading" in a bumpy field and was being a complete tool with it. The company had been hiring them out for years and I was the first one to roll it in that time! Have to admit, not my finest hour... They are actually quite stable, especially on the road. You can chuck them about quite a lot. As I said, I was just being a complete child with it, I'll put my hands up to that.

Just because your in a buggy doesn't mean it magically turns the roads in to a dirt track, you will sit in traffic most of the time and get wet / hot / cold

I totaly agree, I'm surprised at the stupid comments (then again it's OcUK, maybe I shouldn't be...). My uncles bride arrived at the church in the sidecar of his trials outfit, and I certainly wouldn't consider them *****.

I'd far rather have one of these than a stupid road legal quad, at least it offers some level of protection and practicality. Build quality will be...Chinese, i.e. not great. The Quadzilla/PGO buggys are made in Taiwan and are better built.
