I looked for an official thread but couldn't find one using the search - only PC.

4 of us were playing last night to try and get a medal using only melee weapons on survivor mode (last 4 minutes).

However it's pretty much impossible even when one of you has an Axe and the rest have guns etc.

Anyone got any tips on this? We were doing it on the level with the mansion, sitting in a corner and surrounding ourselves with petrol cans.

I'm sure there is a better level for it though?

Tank - need 4 of you shooting at it really and with only 3 we struggled, plenty of pipe bomb usage too.

We can usually kill 1 or 2, but then the special take us out at the same time.

Best was 4.5 minutes but that was with all 4 on guns
 
hmmm... i find melee pretty effective against tanks (although haven't even bothered with survivor yet, only really been doing vs/team vs)

if you get someone being the 'victim' and taking a beating from the tank then usually you can cluster round it and chop it to pieces pretty quick.

also, i find with melee if you're surrounded by a horde, as you click turn your view quickly and you can kill/knock back a load of zombies all the way around you :)

edit: just realised this is in consoles :D ignore the use of mouse

Just trying to point out that it's possibly a flaw in your tactics. We never struggled to get a bronze, no need to get moody.

If it's more helpful...

You know you can use throwable weapons as well as melee right? You can molly the tank, and use pipe bombs to kill horde.

The first level that I completed this on was the bus depot level. We climbed up the top of the tower in the middle and knobbed the horde as they climbed up.

When a tank came, we molly'd it and kited it round as it burnt out, much safer than getting in there with the melee weapons..

Cool cheers - Ill give that a go. I think one of our team was trying to watch TV at the same time as play the game too.
 
Soulja Wyrdo Myself and a mate did this on the shopping center level. We stayed down the bottom and backed into one of the side coridors opposite where the pipe bombs etc spawn. The person who had to melee pushed up tight to the corner and the rest did all the hard work while the person who meleed threw the pipe bombs.

Word of warning if you beat 4.30 once and the person who gets the melee unlock, you then have to get a next higher medal. Hard to explain but it will only unlock once at 4.30 you then have to try a new map or get to 7 mins. Wyrdo and I died once at 6.59seconds to much swearing and screaming.
 
Yeah Jonny noticed that one about it needing to be a new medal, he thinks he's found a method on that level to do it alone with 3 AI.

I guess you guys have finished with this now? I picked it up for £15 in argos preowned eventually. I think I prefer COD:WAW Zombie mode though.
 
Did it with the AI on the shopping mall level a long long time ago.

Cant remember how i did it though lol. But i followed a guide on the xbox360achievements.org forums.

Yeah we all still have it though, I'm waiting for the DLC to be on offer then I will buy that too. The new characters are annoying compared to the old but other than that it's a far better game, especially in MP.

We got close once on the shopping mall by just hiding in a cupboard upstairs, we only just missed out.

The three minute one crossing the bridge busted my balls for a bit as I did it the first time and the AI fell off the bridge and was just hanging.

The expert ones are ridiculous, I can't see anyone doing them without glitching because the end scenarios are so hard, a couple of hits and you are dead.
 
It is harder than it was in the first Left 4 Dead, that much is certain.

It used to work quite well hiding in a corner, that was close enough to keep picking up more Molotov/pipes and the odd health run.

The main trouble is the new special infected, although the Charger was introduced to clear corner camping, he's nowhere near as effective as the Spitter is in such a situation. Plus if a Jockey can get in, it really messes things up when somebody gets dragged out.
 
The three minute one requires you shooting your own Ai team to act as bait whilst you run down the left side as fast as you can.
