Swap 2 5870s for 2 GTX 470s??

No point m8, although SLI does scale better than Crossfire singular GTX470s are slower than 5870s, SLI'd GTX470s are only on par with Crossfired 5870s, and unless you have desperate need to increase your power bill and overall ambient temperature of your house there's no point!

Should I??

The 470s scale better I hear.

Can the 470 handle added AA

I just can`t decide!!

Scaling is better on Nvdia apparently but surely your 5870s are ok?

I always thought with the 5 series ATI cards they handle AA better than nvdia, not sure if this is the case with the Fermi cards?

What res are you using?

I would think 2x5870s is better then 2x470s tho i'm thinking of scraping my 2x5850s for a 470 or 2x470s..

Ive sold my ASUS GTX 470 and goes back to AMD/ATI as I bought ATI Radeon HD5870 V2 that seem great with big fan that give 17-20% cooler as Nvidia card has smaller fan as it getting hotter when you in heavy gaming -- I would say GTX470 is good card all way.. so that up to you to decide which one...

running at 1920x1080, I just thought I may get better perfomance out of the GTX 470s?

Im not sure all i know is that from reading forums/reviews/benchmarks the GTX 470 does appear to scale superbly.

But again at your res i cant see what massive benefit you will see comming from 2 5870

5870 crossfire was the biggest mistake i ever made

got a single 480 to replace it and not looked back

check this thread of mine - the results are very interesting

unless you are playing above 1900X1200

you dont need anything better than a 480 or 5870

One thing i will say when i got rid of 5870 Xfire, then got rid of a single 5870,i personally thought most games ran a lot better, meaning smoother gameplay and less driver issues with my GTX 470 then a GTX 480

This is my experience not trying to slate the 5870 as its a very very good card.

it's only at 2560x1600 when you'd begin to need more memory than 1gb (except GTA4, that travesty of a port). At 1080p and 1200 a single 5870 outperforms a GTX470. Although the better scaling of SLI negates the performance difference between the two when in multi-card setups, you would see no benefits going from two 5870s to GTX470s. No point!

470's handle AA better, higher minimum fps, probably a bit faster when both are in SLI/CF, definitely a good amount faster when both are overclocked, you also get 3D surround if you go for dual 470's over 2D eyefinity
