People of motors

Like I said, fair enough but still, I know two people that have owned S3's and both werent bad handling cars

Anyway you are right, talking about it just makes it seems clearer and I should just keep looking for what I really want

from my experience of any boards relating to 20vt engines, they are very clueless. S3s are dull too, just a bit quicker and grippier

I think he's saying that 20VT owners are generally clueless.

I don't quite think that's the case, they big their cars up naturally because they own them, when in actual fact they are boring and lack character.

what mike said.

theres a debate on there how an s3 is more fun than a 182. like comparing horse manure and ice cream. honestly, i dont think ive come across a more clueless board than audi-sport. if they say somethings a good handler, its fair to just accept they wouldnt know handling if it slapped them in the face.

the engine is dull, if you want a vtec you really wont get along with a 20vt.

I've already had both so I know what to expect, both have their ups and downs but I would prefer the VTEC

As for Audi Sport I was on there for a while and as you get with most places, justifying their choice of purchase to themselves as often as possible was common

Thats a harsh post - i think if you go to any brand specific board you'll see the same posts. God I remember what Scoobynet was like...'..in the twisties...' etc etc.

I don't see what slating a particular forum has to do with giving advice to the OP.

Why have you brought BMWs into this? Until you nobody had even mentioned one?

Don't worry it wasn't because of you (;)). Just seemed an odd 'attack' on the Type R which I thought was partly due to BMW-smuggery (is that a word!) from his sig. That is all.

Why did you decide to pick at my comment then and no-one elses? In before the 'this is a forum' reply!

I'm pretty certain that I'm qualified to judge, given I test drove a multitude of "hot" hatches, and even own one.

Oddly, I never drive it.

Not once did I mention an alternative brand, nor would I suggest one in this situation. But I fail to see the appeal of a Type-R anything for a 30+ year old.

Ok, so you need permission to mention BMWs now? Why can't I mention them if I want to? I thought the whole 'Fox and BMW' thing has passed but you bring it up again..?

Yeah fair play, it would have been a bit easier to understand your view if you had put a bit more info in on your original post :)

No, for wanting a screaming, brash, completely classless pile of plastic.

I see the appeal for younger owners, but at late 30s - early 40s? No.

A fun car to drive that is highly raved about that is also some what practical but wont cost thousands to run every year?

I too am blind to the appeal of such a thing, how dare a 30 year old want to have some fun.

Are people supposed to stop having fun when they hit 30? :(

No, but they can typically afford something that is both fun, AND well built/a nice place to sit.

Now an Exige at 30+, I see the appeal (as a 2nd car).

Get back under your rock DrDee, or should I say WillD58?

Lol, paradigm obviously has some inside info on previous usernames.

In any case he made a point, and paradigm came back with nothing in the way of a counter. I am disappoint :(.

Yes I did, the same answer that I gave to Amoeba would also apply to hurfdurf.

I disagree, since hurfdurf made the point that not everyone wants a car that's expensive to run, and your response to Amoeba was basically 'well everyone >30 should be able to afford an Exige' :).

Therefore I can't see how your response applies to hurfdurf.
