Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health

Is it worth buying and reading this for the lulz? Or is it just terrible and I should spend my money on something more worthwhile? I've seen it for a fiver in a charity shop! I am tempted to give it a read but predict I'll throw it out of the window after page 10!

What are you experiences with this book?

Yes and probably be brainwashed within 5 minutes

Its a silly yarn by a pulp sci-writer. Though I loved Battlefield Earth as a kid

Love some of the quotes from L. Ron Hubbard though

"You don't get rich writing science fiction. If you want to get rich, you start a religion. "
"THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN CONTROL PEOPLE IS TO LIE TO THEM. You can write that down in your book in great big letters. The only way you can control anybody is to lie to them. "

Pick up the bible while your at it and you will have a firm grounding in the absurd.

I still haven't finished reading it. In the first few pages he mentions "do not read past any word you don't understand". I ended up flipping through the dictionary so much it became more interesting than the book itself.
