This is a roundabout near my work place:

At the point of the white dot, there are two lanes. The exit shown only has one marked lane. If you were taking the route shown, which lane would you be in as you entered the roundabout?

There's often confusion here with people trying to move over from the right lane only to find someone that was in the left lane is trying to take the same exit, I've witnessed beeping and gesticulating, both parties believing they're in the right.

Whaddya reckon?

Left lane, indicating left after I had passed the second exit of the roundabout.

I was always taught that if you're going 'straight on' at a roundabout (ie. anything before '2 oclock' you use the outside lane, anything past 2 oclock, use the inside lane and move to outside lane after the exit previous to the one you are taking. Unless its clearly marked out in lanes for specific exits.

Left lane means three exits for left lane and only one for right lane, this is why I've been using the right lane. Maybe it's not cut and dry.

I can see what you're saying, and encounter a similar roundabout on my daily commute too, but always stick to left lane. Not going right at a roundabout? Outside lane!

Doesn't matter how many exits there are, it's the positioning of them.

As a rule of thumb I vaguely remember being told unless you're going for the last exit (within reason, if there are 2 exits pretty much all the way around you wouldn't do this, I think), or things are signed otherwise, you use the left lane.

So straight over on a roundabout I'd always use left, unless signed/marked otherwise, or if it was a 2 lane exit.

I'd echo the comments of the poster above, anything past 3 o clock ish I'd use the right, otherwise it's left.

However your picture isn't showing for me so can't say what I'd do in your circumstances :p

Leftmost lane. If there was significant traffic and an empty right lane, the right and attempt to merge, and if not, go around once with the right of way and still skip a ton of queueing.

Was taught anything before '12 oclock' then you should be in the left lane. If in the inside lane and your exit is blocked, you should go around the roundabout again.

I'd probably go right lane if it was busy as otherwise you'd get stuck behind a load of ditherers in the left lane.

If it was more or less empty... of course left lane.
