Mafia 2 on Steam!!!

Slightly more meaning about 5x the price? I do very much enjoy steam, but I'm just amazed this works for people. To each their own :)

5x the price? =\

It's £29.99 for standard edition - how much is it going to be in the shops?

Nonetheless, it's steamworks so it's win-win in my books :p

I think he means Mafia 1 so 80p vs £5.99. But TBH With prices around a fiver, it's nothing really is it? Whichever you buy.

TBF I bought SimCity 4 for £4.odd on Amazon a few months back, and I'd have probably paid for it on Steam over that but I am not THAT bothered now I already have it. Since I don't have Mafia 1 I'll probably get it on Steam. Plus t's not really 80p with postage factored in. Unless you find it in a bargain bin somewhere for that price.

I used to think like that, and I do see where you're coming from. However, do that a couple of times and you've got enough for another game. I guess these days I just really like to maximize the amount of games I can get hold of, and that makes me ruthless with these things; I'll always seek out a cheap price and every quid counts :P

If this was coming across as knocking you guys, it wasn't meant to. Just something to think about. Preorder hype + steam 'free' games sees so many of my friends spend a lot more than they need to for stuff they never end up using anyway :)

Fixed, no game is amazing.

 don't talk ****, i can honestly say its the best single player game I have ever played! nothing before or after it has come close, so don't alter my opinion of the game thank you very much.

Looks like they accepted the bribe from Nvidia.

I wonder if other than Physx, the game will be nobbled any more against none Nvidia users?

I wonder if the whole Batman AA fiasco taught Nvidia anything?

Brilliant, just cancelled my standard edition from game & changed it to the special edition £13 cheaper than steam & can add it to steam & I'll get the printed map :), man I can't wait to get hooked on this game :D, loved the first, if any game is going to whoop GTA it's mafia, I'm excited about it already, bet I can't sleep on the days coming up to the release lol.

I like the fact you can catch an unlucky shot to the head & die, drive through traffic lights on red or speeding in the view of cops makes them chase you & fine you (if you give up to them :D), fuel running out, loss of health & possible fatality when crash vehicle, absolutely top notch story, voice acting, atmosphere, so many neat features & that was in 2002, yep to say I'm excited about this release is a total understatement :D.

I installed the first mafia not long ago, man it could do with a face lift, looks so dated now, I'm all for old true classics being brought up to date, it was my favourite game back when it was new & still have great memories of it but just couldn't play it now so part 2 should be my GOAT game, heck if serious sam gets a face lift why not Mafia :).

Any action/adventure game fan should have played through mafia on pc, it's too good to have missed, but admittedly, if you've been spoiled with current graphics it will lose some shine, can't believe EA got the rights to do the godfather games they were utterly s***.

On the nvidia thing, if I have to sell my 5870 to buy a 480 & alternative cooler I will, the game is going to rock too much to miss out on any detail.

Err why would they give it a facelift with a sequel arround the corner.

Funny enough it looks dated because it is old!

Ouch :p, thats obviously true with the sequel being close & looking dated because it's a 2002 game but I think any true gaming gems should be brought up to date every so often, especially a game like mafia, the second one is not going to be the same story & I'd sure like to play a better looking/playing mafia 1 on current hardware & I'm sure others would too especially people who missed out on it originally, they could use the new game engine, keep all the voice acting & bring it up to date making it an equal classic to what part 2 will be.

TBF I kinda agree with that. Not so much a totally retexturing or anything (although they do usually start with massive ones then scale them down to fit GPU of the times memory), but it'd be nice for a small patch as new GPUs are released to essentially open up the GPU options like draw distance (although TBF these options are usually standard now), I am sure that wouldn't take too much time at all. Save us messing with unofficial mods that could prove buggy.
