gonna get a road buggy/quad

I've had a few ATVs and they can be great fun but this last 10 years or so there is a lot of chinese junk with no parts support or QC flooding the UK (or more accurately ebay). You may end up with something that can not be repaired or at worst is unsafe. If you fancy a quad or buggy may be worth sticking to the big brands. I've always had honda and no complaints. Personally I don't like the idea of road legal quads - quads are for off road use and are in my view not very sensible for roads.

As for whether your wife would enjoy a novel wedding vehicle only you know the answer to that.

yeah im seeing loads on ebay, and i can imagine parts will be a pain,

skidder, with these type of road buggy's what sort of mileage can you take them on, do they suffer with overheating or are there general rules with distance or engine running times?

why's everyone being so harsh on the guy  what people want to go to/from their wedding venues in is entirely upto them, and not indicative of the type of people they are at all.

I don't think it's harsh. It may or may not be a reflection of the kind of guy he is, but I'd have to be very, VERY sure that my wife wanted to arrive at reception on a quad bike before I went ahead with it!

To 99% of women the wedding day is the fairytale come true.

At what point does the fairytale involve picking dead flies out of your teeth and inhaling diesel soot from the 15 year old Peugeot 306D

LOL

On another note, I remember how broke I was right before I got married. Many people would have wanted my balls if I'd bought a quad bike right before the event! I don't know your financial arrangements etc. but don't pee off any benevolent relatives whilst doing this!

Not too sure on the buggies, always been honda three wheelers (very vintage now!) that I've owned and other people's quads I've had access to.

Certainly no overheating probs with those and was always able to just refill and keep playing. I used to live in the coutntryside but now I'm a suburban desk jockey!

we are both a little odd in that department and i know she would like it, she would turn up to her wedding day in jeans if she could get away with it, as for money, we or me :D have paid for it all and cash flow is good at the min, but as we know hard times are never far away with the current climate.

You don't think it's harsh to suggest this guy's a *****/chav or make assumptions or derogatory comments about his wife to be?
As others have pointed out not every bride needs to be chauffer driven. People have arrived on motorbikes, parachuted out of planes. I'm sure not one person on this forum knows this fellas fiance better than him. The actual idea might well have been a pap one, but not because it will upset his bride to be, just because it's a bit of a rubbish choice of vehicle, and just because some chav knobheads drive these or quadbikes on the road doesn't mean the OP is one.

ha ha, i had no idea quads were lined with chav's - well for the record we are not rich at all, but we both have good jobs, in education, however we do voluntary youth work with younglings that some would call chav's, but at the end of the day they just need love :)

and yes she would have hopped straight into that buggy or anything else i turned up on, as she is that kind of girl, she loves me and would know i did it for her.... i do agree though, perhaps not my best thought plan!

Evening, first of all congrats on your engagement _Jimlad_. It looks like we have a couple of points of discussion - the wedding transport & road buggy/quads.

As already mentioned, provided your 110% positive that the bride is happy with an unusual wedding day transport - bawls to what anybody else thinks! It's her special day give her anything & everything that she wants.

Regarding road buggys & quads - every single time I have ever seen one of these driven on the road it is always speeding, driven by a ****** & generally really quite unpleasant. They have a massive chav label attached to them & quite rightfully so, da' Police will probably also take an interest.
