Please take a look at this. Tell me what you think

come on, there's simply no way on gods earth you could do that to a seated cpu in transit, unless the courier removed it and taped it to his wheels before driving the length of the country.

SCAM

:D:D:D:D. im thinking the same thing. also some people have said to take the money out and put it into by bank. that doesnt work. if they they refund him then im in minus. paypal will come after me with legal action. they never leave you alone

If the serial numbers match up either, a) it has happened in transit, or b) he's bought the computer and decided he doesn't want that CPU so instead of selling it and possibly not being able to, has decided to trash it in the hope of getting a partial refund of some sort, and paypal siding with him.

Point them to this thread and get them to come on here and explain wtf happened!

i was going to say if the cooler was shaken off in transit and pulled the cpu with it, it may have caused the dmg, but looking at the pic and the fact you said you had inside the case protected i fail to see how.

LOL at the CPU pins, maybe OCUK may buy off you and fit into a "how not to mount the CPU" guide! Using only your fists!

I woudl dispute this all the way! He's clearly trying it on! I find it hard to believe that the cpu came out espescially as you had airbags inside the case limiting movement. What cooler was it? I know my thermolab baram screws on and you'd need mega welly to rip the thing out let alone have it fall out on its own!

Is that even you're cpu? Try and match the serial number if you still have it, he might be scamming just to rpelace and old one or he botched an upgrade tot he cooler or something!

Serial numbers match

It was a zalman quite cooler on and amd dual core chip.

but even if the cpu cooler did come lose i had packed the inside of the case with airplus (air pillows) so no way it would ratlle around in the case

alos i fail to see how amd coolers can come off becuase that lock thing is pretty secure

could be that the cpu+cooler had detached from one side then swung back while in transit thus the pins are scattered everywhere.:rolleyes:

more likely I reckon is that he's taken the cpu off and put it back on upside down. he's tried to force it back on (perhaps something blocking the way) as on the left hand side none of the pins are that bent + the thermal paste.

seems to be a noobie who's learnt the hard way trying to make up for his mistake. UL for him. dont give the money back.

There isn't much I can add to this thread, other that I agree this is all very suspicious.

My brother accidently bent some pins on his old Pentium a few months ago ripping it out [he didn't know the cpu was attached to the giant silvery thing that was in the way of his hoover! :p] and even though he had mucked about trying to get it back in, he only bent 5 or 6, and all roughly pointing the same way.

The CPU in those pics is horrendous. It's like the guy tryed to mash it into an Intel board or something, didn't fit, so got a mallet to get rid of those pesky pins.

If I were in your place now I would be contacting eBay and telling them the situation and also stating precisely why it seems iffy. It would take some abuse to get a CPU looking like that [I think you would have to have dropped the PC down a large flight of concrete stairs. Twice.

The lack of pictures on the buyer's behalf just makes it even more suspect. If you have several hundred quid hanging in the balance, you find a way of getting pictures to prove your case!

Tbh, I would politely say that due to the nature of the bent pins, you don't think/believe this was caused by the cpu fan coming off.

Are you sure it is the exact chip you sent? I bet he bought your PC and had an identical chip at home thats screwed and sent you it saying that it got damaged to try to get it replaced so he could sell on?

rofl that looks like fresh thermal paste to me and thats LOTS of it, you are being scammed here for sure.

Hes cocked it up - good luck

All the pins on all sides are bent in. He's tried to force that into a socket that its not meant to go into.. if it had come loose in transit and flown around the case the pins would be damaged far more randomly...

send him a turd as compensation

As said before, he's left positive feedback so is he even able to open a dispute?

He won't be able to change his Feedback, but he can still open a dispute with eBay.

It's a tough situation to be in as a seller.

As some people on here have suggested transferring the money out of his PayPal account... that won't work, as they will just take it from your bank account.

Also, it's no good denying all correspondence, as that's only likely to strengthen the buyers case.

Unless he owns up to having damaged your processor, or leaves it at that, the only thing you are really going to be able to do is try and claim the damage back from the courier. In which case, I hope you paid for a service that covers the full cost of the item.

eBay is fine as a buyer, but sellers have to be really careful not to get screwed over. In general most people are honest though.

Looks like he tried forcing it in the socket the wrong way.

You tried bending them straight yet, It is possible even with that many bent. trust me;)
