Bit of a dilemma for my next upgrade.

Got an E71, I think its great apart from the camera & the 2.5mm Headphone jack. I was gonna go for the E72 as it seems to resolve those issues.

But everywhere I go I see people with blackberrys, they seem to be more popular than Iphones (I dont want a touchscreen phone) this reason has made me have a rethink.

Now I've only ever owned Nokias in the 15 years I've owned a mobile phone & They've all been good phones for battery life, reliability, calls, build quality etc.

Internet reviews on both phones are all good, consumer reviews seem to slightly favour the Nokia for reliablity. (which is important to me)
Now can anyone convince me to change to a blackberry?

Opinions please.

I also have an E71 and it has been superb for the past 17months.

The E72 isn't a big upgrade from the E71, better camera, extra buttons and change of OS version. The 9700 is a good phone but will it run BB OS6.0? Have read that a 9700a refresh may be coming out soon with extra ram to run the new OS6, also BB9800 slider will be out soon. So maybe worth waiting a few months to see what new is coming out.

I have an E72 - best phone I ever used. It's perfect for me. My phone history includes half a dozen Smartphones from the very first Orange SPV to the HTC Diamond, two Palm Treos and the E61i. (edit to change N to E)

Both phones are good from what i have seen and used...im a BB man through and through and one of the girls in my office has the new E72 which looks nice but tbh i just dont like the screen res on it....it looks absolute rubbish compared to my 9700.

Both are good though but i preferred my 9700 as the keys are much nicer to type on...its not as nicely built as the E72 but its still a decent handset the 9700.

I suggest you pop down to a mobile phone shop and have a play with both...just be aware that having a BB means you need to have the BIS or blackberry email service which is usually £5 extra.

Both good mobiles, 9700 is probably the nicer handset, but in terms of build quality etc I can't comment, but I have owned an E71 and it's pretty much bullet proof, Nokia haven't done much right since tbh. Depends what you want, as said, you should have a play with both if you can and decide for yourself.

Build wise the E72 is better built ie uses metal if im not mistaken whereas the 9700 is plastic with a few metal bits in it.

I would be giving the BB 9700 a miss, crackberry.com had a sneak preview of the Bold 9780 running OS6, exactly the same phone as the 9700 but had 512mb ram instead of 256mb ram. It looks as if Blackberry's OS6 is a memory hog and needs more than the 9700's 256mb ram. I suspect a lot of 9700 owners will be getting a pee'd off with the fact that Blackberry's flagship phone might not support the new OS and webkit browser.
