If I wanted to buy something from the Members Market here or anywhere for that matter, how do I go about doing a bank transfer? I have online banking, is it something I can do online or do I have to go into the bank and set up a bank transfer?

I take it the other party has to give me some kind of account number in order to do this? Cheers

Account number, sort code and account name is all you need. I do it online all the time with Nationwide.

If you have online banking you can log into that and transfer the monies. You'll need the name, account number and sort code of the person you're transferring the money to.

No you can do it online. Most accounts now will let you send it as a faster payment as well so its gets to the recipient immediatly.

It can be a bit long winded with some account, like my barclays one for instance as you have to faff around with a Pinsentry calculator type thingy but its fairly easy to do :)

I was about to go wtf surely everyone knows, then I saw your location and it became clear as I figure they only got electricity and the internetz in the last year or two :p

Each bank site will be slightly different but yes, all you need is name, acct number and sort code and there should be an option to set up a transfer or payment

God I hate that. I pretty much don't use my nat west account online for that very reason. I stick to Lloyds/nationwide because they don't insist on that crap.

Haha :D yeh not totally up to speed with the whole internet banking yet. My bank makes it very easy to transfer the monies between my own account but its not sore clear on how to tranfer the cash to someones else. Thanks for the help guys!

I'm with Santander (formerly A & L) and it's pretty much what Andyh said. Once you have a few 'payees' set up, their account names will show in a drop-down box when you're making an online payment.
