Why is Racism Unacceptable but Homophobia is Acceptable?

And before anyone starts wailing about 'homophobia isn't acceptable' you only have to look at the likes of the pope or other religious entities to see that it is.

Different things are acceptable or unacceptable in different parts of the world at different times.

Just 30 years ago racism was acceptable in South Africa, homophobia certainly was not.

Or is this just a side-swipe at religion?

It's pretty hard to find genuine homophobia outside of the catholic church, which we all know is a little bit odd anyway...

Neither are acceptable, religion always has a "special" relationship with most things like this though and they tend to get away with it.

Why are we allowed to ridicule people for being ginger (day walker) or short-sighted (four eyes) but not black (******) or white (honkey)? Makes no sense to me!

Where have you got the impression that it is? I certainly haven't seen Chinese people being referred to as 'chinks' in any mainstream and accepted sense, only in the same way the other derogatory terms are used.

The question was why is homophobia acceptable... the Pope and related religious people think it is... but who else? Gay marriage is an argument for it (it being homophobia not homosexuality) being unacceptable.

Ok so the amount of gay take the **** stuff that gets posted on here seems fine, but if someone posts taking the **** out of black people because of there colour people would probably get banned....yes no??
