Trouble locating a fuel filter

I've been trying to find a fuel filter online for my BMW 130i (2005) for ages now to no avail.

I realise the N52 engine is used in a lot of other BMWs so I was I thought instead of trying to find a 130i filter couldn't I just used one from another car?

What size are the fuel hoses? 8mm? Why not just splice a generic fuel filter with 8mm tails into the fuel lines?

Wanted to avoid buying it from a BMW dealer as they seem to put a mark up on everything for no reason

I recently bought the car and even though it has CBS I want to change all the filters etc over as the time between changing some of the items is ridiculous.

They really don't. Most consumable and serviceable parts are pretty cheap IMO from a BMW dealer.

Have you even called them?

Dealers aren't usually that expensive on consumables or common parts (sometimes they even manage to be cheaper). Generally they'll only rip your wallet to pieces if it's a component that only they can supply (such as a replacement ECU, etc), or their labour costs if you have any work done by them.
