Demons Souls Euro Release

Same here as well!

I wasn't particularly keen on Oblivion, but I guess I didn't give it enough time. Three times a week is fine, I tend to have quite a big gap between playing sessions because it can be quite a frustrating game at times, but once I get on it, its great. Still haven't completed any world except 1-1, going to give 2-1 a shot now :)

If its like Oblivion i cant be bothered with it. (Oblivion was great but requires a lot of hours to get the most from it).

There's not much like it - simple as.

It's got a hub world like Super Mario 64 or Banjo Kazooie, it's got a deep combat system which I can't really compare anything to and the item collecting of Diablo.

Just get it, it's one of the best games this gen.

OMG! I actually progressed last night! :D


I killed the Phalanx thing. :)

Weirdly, the dragons weren't there? :confused:

So I sauntered up and picked up all the treasure around the hills untested.




2 questions.... How do I increase my skills enough to use certain weapons effectively? And how do I get another slot for a spell I have learnt?

I'm only new to the game myself but when you go back to the Nexus you'll be told to go and speak to the Elemental who's up near the top of the Nexus, once you've done that you can spend your souls with the lady at the bottom to increase your skills, which is also how you increase your spell slots, it's explained what each skill will increase when you select them from her.

Haha, Phalanx was a bit of a walkover, but I knew the fight in advance so just hid behind the pillars and healed when necessary. Fire helps a LOT. Congratulations nevertheless, its very satisfying! :D

Also, if you are on US servers, Atlus currently have PWWT (Pure White World Tendacy) and the dragons don't appear. Pretty sure this is the case because I did 1-1 before the world event and the dragons were there, but when I went back a few days later to grab the goodies, they had disappeared.

Some decent treasure there, but rather situational. I like the shield, but its too heavy really, I preferred the extra movement to get out of tricky situations rather than be stuck in there with my shield.

Your first question - if you go back to the Nexus you should be able to talk with Maiden in Black. She generally lingers around the steps and center area, should be quite obvious. She sends you upstairs a few floors to talk to Monumental, and when you go back down you can use your souls to upgrade stats. Doing so increases your soul level.

Second question, I don't know sorry. Not used any spells yet.

Had quite a fun session last night, I went into 2-1 as a blue phantom and it gave me chance to look around the level a bit more. We fought all the way to the final boss (how the hell am I supposed to do this solo?!?!?) but then died. I didn't know what to do anyway. Some giant spider thing, going in melee range wasn't wise but I didnt have any ranged skills.

I did a bit more farming on 1-1 and finally found Ostrava and got the Thief's ring. Can't believe I missed that whole section last time...

Then I got some help from a friend in 3-1, although that level is pretty brutal... we got quite far till I fell off the side of a cliff. Back to the beginning of mind-numbing torture again...

Love the level design, although I have to admit that 1-1 seems incredibly tame compared to 2-1 and 3-1. 1-2 doesn't look too bad, but I've yet to progress very far in it. Going to have a muck around later.

This is the kind of game where you come away from every play session learning something new. Every single monster has a variety of attacks, you really do have to learn how to avoid them and when to strike or you go down very fast. Dying quite far into the level is brutal, but fair. At least it allows you to spend some time learning about the environment and how best to attack the next time around.

http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/ - this wiki is brilliant. They have a forum too as well as a Ventrilo server that is used as a chatroom rather than voip. Fun, friendly people in there so its well worth hopping on to ask questions. Wiki is packed with information though, as well as very detailed level walkthroughs. I don't recommend using them until you've beaten a level at least once though, I just use them for finding items I've missed the first time round.

Quite sad that I've got about 6 or 7 hours playtime and I've only beaten 1-1 :D

i have found once i have over 10000 souls i go back to nexus and see the maiden to upgrade .
seems to make the levels a bit easier when you have upgraded your stamina and weapon of choice.

Just got to the end of 4-1 and did,nt see the enemy before the fog and enable the graverobbers ring so i got nailed by a black phantom :( looks like its a good level to get souls on so far lets just hope i get to the end to pick up my souls over 30,000 there :D
 
I had an interesting moment with that very black phantom last night, used soul arrow to get him down to a slither of health and decided to switch to my sword to finish him off, cue him jumping at me knocking my shield down and almost one-shot me, managed to get a blow in to kill him but lesson learned, don't get cocky :)

4-2 is the best level in the game to farm souls. All you need is a bow and arrow (unless you're farming in PBWT which is a bit harder to do) and you repeatedly kill the grim reaper thing right at the beginner. You can make a huge amount of souls this way.

Black skeli not black phantom so the grave robbers ring will do nothing. Have you got the theif's ring now?

The Graverobbers ring is best used for invasion's as your virtually invisible unless your attacking other enemy's

Haha, I get a bit cocky too sometimes. Especially during long fights when the enemy is quite low on health, I decide to try and get another hit in and it retaliates pretty violently :/

yeah i found it when i hopped over a wall ;)
in the end gave up looking for the bow just found one at a merchant instead .
really need to get a bigger magic bar and powering it up a bit the boss on 4-1 is tearing me up every time i go through the fog and move to the steps :(

i have got to the bottom and i cannot find what im looking to melee , all i manage to do is get stuck between his arms and get hit by him .
there is something stuck in his side but every time i hit it ,his health bar is staying the same so not sure what i have to do , is there anywhere to take cover to replenish or do you think i might need to upgrade more .
