1 st car

Ok i didnt get that car. I might be offered my dads VW Bora 1.9 Tdi, but im scared it may be a bit big. What do people think?

You will be fine with a Bora its only a Golf with a boot, one size up from a Polo.

Nooooo, there is no excuse to pick a car with what effetely is an old transit engine! It is a very loud and rough engine.

Get a 1.2/1.4 petrol, at least you can sit in quiet and comfort.

Im thinking petrol all the way myself

Theres a lot of good cars out there though only cheap diesel i woukd have is a 1.9td 306 tbh

My mate's 03 plate Polo that he's owned since new and has put around 50k miles on it needed a few suspension parts replacing a couple years ago. Think a spring snapped on it once.

Its a common fault apparently (I did a bit of researching before buying) I had one snap but it was a cheap and easy fix, they had both corroded in the same place near the top.

I have not had any other issues apart from coil packs

If you are looking at that Polo with a £1,000 budget then I recommend getting something Jap.

Nissan/Toyota/Honda on average (remember any car can be a turd if poorly maintained) will spend much less time in the garage than something french.

Whatever you do, don't get a naturally aspirated diesel. They are heavy, slow and it will sound like a spanner in a bucket (as do most 10+ year old diesels by design).

I admit these cars are not fast or cool, but they are miles better than an 11 year old Polo.

Remember, engine size means very little on insurance, it mainly goes on statistics. I have never seen a 17 year old with a body kit and big rims on an Almera so it should be cheap to insure.
