Do you know what you want to do/be in life?

What sort of stuff do you write? Who do you publish with?

Thats what im interested in getting into once I actually manage to finish something I start :p

I write articles (500-2500 words) about anything that interests me. There are some in my signature. I have also written a couple of scripts; a marketing one which is being filmed now and a fiction piece which is forever in pre-production. Lots of short fiction, but I generally never finish them and see them more as foundations for future stuff.

Getting things published is (as you'd expect) the hardest part and it can take a very long time. Last year was about me learning the craft and I said to myself that this year would be about me building up a portfolio of published work. Next year would be when I start earning. Luckily, I'm earning ahead of schedule.

Maddeningly, many magazines and online sites won't even take work for free so you really have to hunt down places to be published. Where these are will strongly depend upon what you're writing about and unless you're lucky you'll be giving a lot of work out for free. This isn't a bad thing though as you will learn A LOT in the process and other people will see your work.

If you want to get a novel published you'll need to go through an agent.

When I grow up I'd like to hold a position of responsibility somewhere and be a good example to my kids.

Maybe one day :)

Ghosteh did you get injured in training? what was it?

Yeah, get injured on exercise, just slipped when I had a bergen on my back, twisted my leg quiet a bit, and damaged my hip. But as I'd had a problem when I was 2 years old with my hip, they said it was a reoccurring problem, and wasn't their issue lol.

But I'm still glad of it, because of my experiences in civvy street have made me a better soldier.
That and my original plan was to work around 6 years in the Army and come out on to civvy street and work in the IT sector. When I was out of the Army I actually did, and it drove me mad working behind a desk, so now I'm back in, I'll be doing my 24+ years if all goes to plan :).

Or you could learn how to build websites and self publish your articles and earn through ad revenue.

Yeah, I tried blogging with google ads but the time it would take me to build up a following who click on enough adverts to make me money didn't seem worth it compared to the amount of hours it needed. That's just my take on it, though; I'm sure this has worked well for others.

Not sure what I want to do with my life. At 25 I think I better start thinking before it's too late.

I've done uni and will be paying for that for a while, didn't find the actual course too great but it's always good to have a degree.
Job wise, I'd prefer to do something that pays enough to cover a reasonably fun life. My current job pays pretty low but it's enough to pay rent and keep things reasonable. I just can't see me handling SysAdmin forever though...

I want to get into something fun to take up my free time.
I want to learn to play guitar.
I want to have an enjoyable future.

Regarding the job front... As long as it's interesting and not a chore day in/day out.

I love programming and I love video games, now I want to become a games developer, I know exactly where I want to go for university and what course I want to take. It's good because it implements hard maths (Vectors in 3D environments etc. and matricies) into something that I enjoy.

What course you thinking of? I only ask because there are a lot of bad courses out there.

I'm didn't really know what I wanted to be until about a year ago. Now I'm (hopefully) on my way to becoming a games developer which is a lot harder than most people think!

There are a few things I'd like to do ultimately but just now I'm chasing a career in IT desktop support, isn't going too well at the moment since I had to defer because of my health. Hoping to get back in this september though.

Im 24 and at last i know what i want to do, but it means atleast 2 years at college but more like 3 years so by the time im qualified ill be 27-28 maybe. Does that sound pretty old or am i being silly.

I want to be a pilot, I gave up the idea until recently knowing someone with similar grades and such be one. So now I'm trying for that, if it fails I'll try see if places in the US/Canada will work, if not I'll probably kill myself.

...or carry on my motor mechanic studies.
