Anyone with Alliance & Leicester?

Alliance and Leicesters online banking is generally quite poor, my available balance and actual balance are very rarely the same. Takes days for transactions to come though.

My online banking is buggered anyway. I forgot my log in ID number and I can't reset it online because I blocked it somehow. Whenever I ring for me to actually talk to someone they ask for the ID number! How am I suppose to get through and tell them I've lost my login ID number if I need that to actually talk to them in the first place! Ridiculous system.

Either will work I imagine, I'll continue to use my old details as I remember them. If in doubt, contact them :)

Just got this message when logging in:

Important Information 26 July 2010

We're delighted to inform you that your personal savings and current accounts have successfully been transferred onto the Santander system.

What does this mean to you?
We want to reassure you that you do not need to take any specific action as a result of the transfer of your accounts. You can continue to use your account details, manage your accounts and contact us in the same way as before.

You will still be able to use the Internet Banking service as normal but there are some slight changes that you will notice once you have logged on. These include:

* Your Santander sort code and account number will be displayed.
* You will be able to add any Santander savings and current accounts that you may hold to your summary.

Wherever there is a change to a process, we will provide guidance to help you complete your transaction – simply use the available i buttons or on-screen instructions.

For more information read ‘Your messages’ from your summary page.

Select 'Next' to start using the Internet Banking service.

My direct debits all have a '-' next to them except paypal which shows a transaction today and the value. That would indicate that the direct debits are still setup and working fine.

I'm not sure what changes they made but my account balances seem to update almost instantly now, I took £20 out of a cash machine about an hour ago and it's already on there along with a very detailed descriptions of where the machine was. Something like that usually took days before with A&L and had a very brief description.

I was unablew to log-in a couple of weekends ago, due to 'essential maintenance'. I then received the same notice as above, regarding successful transfer to the Santander system.

My direct debits appeared as per above, but my credit card and gym membership have since been successfuly collected so I can't see there being any real issues, barring the slight inconvenience of being unable to log in that one time.

Hopefully there will be further improvements now Santander are on-board. Can't say I'll miss that garish online banking colour scheme employed by A&L.
