its only approx 20w more, whoopee

Its a hell of a lot faster too.

The GTX 460 768mb is only 30 quid more expensive too.

Who would buy a 5770 now?

Seems like it's time for a much overdue price drop!

Where are those figures from?

The only review I found where the 460 used less than the 5850 was guru which I'm told is team green biased.

Regardless it's not a huge difference but it's something that should be considered.

5850 is marginally more expensive and in my opinion marginally more powerfull...i guess its how deep in your pockets you want to dig for that something extra

Fair enough.

http://www.*****.net/content/item.php?item=25391&page=12 = GTX 460 and 5850 both use the same power. GTX 460 runs cooler. (You can guess the hashed out part.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/3809/nvidias-geforce-gtx-460-the-200-king/17 = Equal on both counts

I'm thinking about being able to get a 460 with a fancy cooler a bit cheaper than the 5850 with a stock one.

I'm planning a 24" monitor sometime next month, should that shove me in one direction?

EDIT: so far my reasoning is this, 460 is a bit slower/cheaper, 5850 is a bit faster/more expensive and I'll be upgrading again when dx11 is the norm. new monitor will be something like 1920x1080 native.
