Hey,

I've never had a nice sporty car and am really getting the urge to buy something cheap in which I can play with and increase my mechanical knowledge. It wouldn't matter if it was off the road for repair.

Unfortunately I don't have much mechanical knowledge :D.

Any particular car recommendations? I liked the look of this one: http://london.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...ustang-Hatchback-NEW-PRICE-W0QQAdIdZ219645252

Is it going to cost me a fortune from an initial glance (an impossible question I feel).

It looks a little chavvy but could be great fun. :D

I'm sure they are expensive to run :(. I was looking to get something for 5k and have 1k for stuff.

However, I may be just better off spending $15k on a better car and actually enjoying it.

I just want something for 1 year or so to have some fun in before I get married.

That fox body mustang looks great. Probably not got quite the same impact over there as it would have over here. As a car to play with you probably can't get much better though, there must be millions in scrapyards and loads of aftermarket parts available.

You should be able to pickup a Corvette C4 over there pretty cheap, that would be a fun muscle car for a bit.

Lashout is the guy to talk too about them, but people go through the hassle of importing them here so you shouldn't have much trouble finding one in Canada.

Corvettes are seen much more as luxury cars there, they are cheaper here normally.

Mg or triumph of some kind, plenty of parts available and reasonable prices and lots of engine conversions to increase your general mechanical knowledge.
Plus a midget with a k-series lump in will show up a lot of modern sports cars.

An MX5 mrk1 in good condition with decent miles (anything below 90k) would cost you from £3k-£4k with the top end buying you a really mint car. Just make sure you buy a Jap import and look for a 1.6 they have about the same power to weight as a 1.8 :D Jap imports usually come with air con electric windows ect

I love driving my MX5 it is so fun on B roads ;)

Neither is a V6 modern Mustang.

It's about as sporty as a Mondeo.

I wouldn't get a V6 or Auto Mustang, it was just a quick example of a decent car for $15k

Good idea, the Mrs quite likes these. I've never driven one, although, I would prefer a mustang or Corvette

They are pretty common over here, more so than the UK obviously. I saw a decent one for 10k last night. Older style.

I like the fox body one too, it looks a little chavvy and terrible inside but I'm sure a 5.0l V8 could make up for that. :D
