I'm a Semi-Pro Photographer, Was asked to shoot some Model's in Demoing New clothing being introduced into a local shop.

He expects i will do it for experience, Not paid work? I think this is a total joke tbh, No matter if im amateur, Pro, or Semi-Pro, They cant determine the skill i have in photography. It just really gets to me. taken for granted.

It is quite clear that he wants to get it for free!

Grr, Whats your thoughts?

Will it look better on you're portfolio? Do you need the experience for a CV? Will it lead to more paid work?

If no to all of the above tell the guy and don't do it.

Not particularly. My Portfolio Is Booming, it would be a bit of money on the side for me!

Just sounds like he is bartering or pushing his luck tbh. If you don't want to do it, don't. If you want to, trying bartering back.

Joke tbh

You don't have to do it if you don't want to, make it clear to him that that's the way it is.

Maybe if you were a rookie or helping someone else out then doing it for free would become an option, but not if you are a semi-pro as you say.

Hit the nail on the head mate. Exactly what i was thinking.

Do you issue contracts? If so, write a usage clause into it. Watermark your shots and if he is decides that the job is worth using, make him pay for the images used. Employ a penalty clause for unauthorised reproduction.

Nope.

But it seems like a good idea mate.

Give him nice little 320x240 versions of all the photos and tell him the full size versions are £250 each :p

tbh, after thinking about it some more, you are a self proclaimed "semi-pro" and not a "pro". Therefore, you sometimes do paid work, which is what this guy will be reading. He has some work he can offer to you, for free. He has done so.

If you're not going to do unpaid work, then stop calling yourself semi-pro. :)

Also, welcome to life. People will always be trying to get a bargain, and there is no bigger bargain than free.
