Put £5 on some horse (favorite) to win and and it did - wow, made £27, such easy money although i have now entered into the realm of gambling which i am not too pleased about. How much can expect to win from betting on average?

Depends on the odd's.

I've never bet more than a fiver because I know how addictive it can be.

You will lose somewhere between 0 and the amount of money you gamble. The chances of you ending up +ve in the long run aren't really worth considering.

The better question would be how much should you expect to lose.

By all means place a bet, enjoy the thrill and the excitment of the chances and the odds, but never ever expect to make money from it.

I enjoy playing the fruit machine down the pub, I dont do it because Im short on cash I just enjoy the game.

IF you are good and know your sport you can probably get about £10,000 before being banned by the bookie.

Betting on 'any old horse' based on the odds - chances are you'll lose ..

Make money from gambling?

Ho ho ho ho.

Find out the hard way if you want, or listen to me when I tell you: you got lucky.

Don't go to the casino

You will be walking home at 7am ... down and out!

I've been to a casino once in my life. Walked in at 12.30pm, left at 7pm, effectively started with £1 and made £135 profit. Lucky, of course, but you have to be smart and know when to get out. There was some chinese bloke in there betting £1,000 a hand on Blackjack, first hand he had Blackjack, so £1,500 up and from there...

You can't aim at a certain figure. You back what you want at the odds offered, and that's that. If you put £1 on a 4/1 shot or £20 at a 1/5 shot, you've still made £4 but risked a lot more on the 1/5 shot. All depends what you bet on, doesn't it :)

well done now walk away and never do it again. You wont win you will end up with what you start with or nothing.

Wake up call, put £10 this time lol, that double my money, something tells me i should stop..

Do the favs not often win. Two out of two.

Just remember horse-racing usually has a massive over-round, typically 110-112%, sometimes more. Favourites win approx. 35% of the time, but I'd wager most (2/3 or more) of those are priced less than 9/4.

FWIW - Orpenindeed in the 4.00 at Wolvo. Not a great price (7/4f) but Tim Vaughan's, with a claimer on it, bidding for a hat-trick against a bunch of donkeys? Yes please.
