One last time before I press the buy button, GTX 470 vs the 5870

longer than the cheapo HIS?

My case is a Thermaltake Armour.

Keep asking my self the same question.

Is the 5870 going to be good, for future gaming titles?

Im not buying for present games, but for tomorrws, things like Crysis 2 etc....

Obviously I realise I cant max games out all the time, but Im not buying a card with no future am I?

Its a powerfull card?

god I hate those thermaltake armors so poor in cooling in my option

I think you will be wanting more of a HD5870/GTX480 rather than a GTX470

Yes, as you've been advised numerous times, it's a powerful card, should be good for a couple of years at least.

And as I've mentioned to you before, if you're buying a 5870, and particularly as you keep mentioning about wanting a card to be able to play future games well, you would be foolish not to pay the extra few quid and get the Powercolor 5870 2GB that's currently at a cracking price at OCUK.

But hey. it's your dosh, your choice.

ok, dudes, thanks for the advice on the 2gb version.

From benchmarks, however it showed the 2gb version *underperforming* compared to the 1gb version at my resolution of 1920x1200.

Of course benchies are a load of bull as I'v found out!

Err, Crytek have pretty much made a promise that Crysis 2 will murder all currant GPU’s so I just as life has been since I started PC gaming as soon as you get new hardware a game comes along that’s kills it.

If you're really worried about Crysis 2 I suggest you wait until the game comes out, see what how it plays and work out what hardware you need.

Are you missing the point deliberately?

History tells us that games will use more and more memory. Metro 2033 is an example of that.

You keep banging on about wanting a card to last you long time, yet you can't see the value in buying a card that has 2GB of memory onboard?

I give up, seems like you only see what you want to see. You are the stereotypical person who asks for advice, but only desires reconfirmation that what he really wants is the thing to go for.

GET THE GTX 470 TRUST ME TESSALATION IS VERY Important in games, only a couple of games utilize this and metro 2033 i think its called that has tessalation, and the GTX 470 kics the 5870 ass!!!!!!!!!

+ GTX 470 in SLI are much better in terms of perfomance than the 5870 in crossfire!!

and there is onlylike 10 FPS difference when the 5870 are in tri crossfire

Deary me, someones angry today.

No you have me wrong. I do seethe value in more RAM, of course, and at £300 compared to the other 2gb version its cheap.

Its just from the benchiers Iv seen the 1gb version seems to perform better than the 2gb version, unless your using humungous resolutions.

Chill dude, Il have another look, at some more benchie reviews.

Most probaby will go for that version.

Chillax
