To be fair you don't need PC Bob to say you must have been a bit quick to jump a central reservation barrier on a dual carriageway and plough into an oncoming car in a Toyota Supra on a residential road :p

Quite, if you did that at 4mph you could probably be done for dangerous driving, at very least without due care.

A probable no from me :(

Would love to come down but it is an awful trek, especially in a car that will be up on axle stands that weekend with no suspension components in sight.

:D

Yea, its SO far from London.

I know, us lot that travel from Devon have NO clue how far it is...

I realise I'm not going this time, but that's due to work, if I had different shifts I would travel up for the day.

Londonshire is not a place and I'm sure I've explained it before. Work in London, spend most my time in London + St Albans, but live near Milton keynes. Soo much time on trains :(

Plus the axle stand comment is the main reason :D

Has anybody got any further thoughts on the change of pub? I guess somebody needs to phone them and see if they can cater for a large group all arriving at once...

Just seen this and sorry, but what??

Have you just pulled jumping a central reservation barrier from a box containing "Fox's Random Roadside Objects to Make A Situation Sound Unnecessarily Dramatic" ?!

You should have added that it rolled on the roof twice, hit a couple of lamp posts, a bollard, slid across a mini roundabout and took out an orphanage in a ball of flames.

I've been happy to accept things you've said as they always seem to be providing a welcome, realistic point of view based on facts and good reasoning, but seriously... what?

What is the point in posting something that is clearly not only factually innacurate, but serves no purpose other than to portray the situation in a further bad light?

We all saw the photos and Google Streetview

And you will have also seen the picture I posted. And in that case, in both instances, you will have seen that there is no barrier, and a height difference between the road surfaces. No jumping involved. Clipping a kerb and dropping, yes.

I wish there had been a barrier, it would have stopped the car!

There are two kerbs and an overall ~1.5-2.0ft vertical difference between the levels of the carriageways. Futile attempt at an ascii representation: :p

Code:
up carriageway
______________¦
               \______________________¦ down carriageway
                                       \________________

So, back to the meet...

Apologies, but its a touchy subject for obvious reasons and I dislike people spouting misinformation about me.

I'm not trying by any means to justify anything about the incident (as I'm sure will be assumed).

It didn't seem worth starting a thread just to pick on a single post but I'm done ...

... end rant and end of my contribution to this epic derailment!

Change the word 'barrier' for 'divider' then if you are that bothered.
