700bhp for 10k 'spec me' thread!!

1989 Sierra Saph 2wd cosworth bit of a stinker £2000

Huge Turbo, inter cooler associated fuel parts and a decent map. Nitrous to top it up :P

Your diff and gearbox will probably last 1 launch each just buy a few second hand and change them per drag :P

who am i kidding you would need 30k to get a 20 year old 4 pot engine to that

That must have LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!

I had a GT35R on an R33 GTR and that didnt really get going till 4krpm! Also had the advantage of revving out to 8.5krpm. That must be an interesting power delivery!

I havent seen it run yet, he wasnt out to play last season as he was waiting for the wiring loom to be finished so scrutineered but didnt race.

Not sure if he has run this season as I've not been down at all but he's aiming at being the fastest FWD car in europe

Early MKIV Supra 6 speed, probably pick up a shabby example for around 5k.

2JZ-GTE engine is solid, good for silly power (would need to work on internals to have it last any massive length of time though)
6 Speed GETRAG box good for silly power too.

£5k left for big single turbo kit and some new cams, obviously you would have to fit it yourself.

Job done.

this, and don't forget they used a supra iv to "smoke" a Ferrari in the fast and the furious so you can pretend your vin diesel

you wont get a 6speed supra for 5k i dont think, you may get a very ropey auto, but luckily that will hold the horsepower anyway.

want to expand on your bolt-ons, what turbo etc, remember you have to cover all the fueling, injectors, cooling, things like that all add up

You can - I searched through supra classifieds for almost a year and they do crop up I can assure you. Some are likely to be CAT D repairs or just in poor condition interiors / paintwork or poor grade imports etc but they are around.

The auto wouldn't hold the power for long at all! General consensus is that it tops out around 500BHP ... though if we are looking at only short run reliability, then pick up a ropey TT Auto for about 4K

Just pulled some prices from Power House Racing who do some decent kits for the Supra...

Stage 3 GT72 Turbo Kit $5495 (fmic, turbo, manifold, pipework, wastegate blah blah)
Stage 2 Fuel Kit $2255 (injectors, fuel rail, pipework, pump etc)
AEM Standalone ECU $1758

$9508 = £6135 (xe.com)

Slightly over budget at approx £11k though. You can easily pick up a second hand AEM for less than half RRP though. And if you build up the kits yourself rather than going pre-packaged, it will work out even cheaper.

thats good hunting

there are a few savings to be made if you buy seperately, going to a power fc will save you $700 and building your own fuel system should save you another $400

you might be able to get it under £10k if your really careful with your money, maybe apply those parts to an aristo to get it under, though i havent checked the recent prices of what they are going for

in order of weight:

E46 M3 CSL : 1385kg
Corvette C4 : 1469kg
Lexus/Toyota Soarer : 1596kg
Porsche 928S : 1629kg
Supra TT : 1642kg
What measurement standards are those weights to?

For example, the M3 CSL weight of 1385kg includes at least an allowance of 68kg for the driver, 7kg for luggage, 42kg for fuel, 6kg for engine oil, 2kg for transmission oil, 1kg for differential oil, 10kg for coolant and maybe more - dry it's closer to 1250kg. Most American "curb" weights (and many Internet weights) are sans driver, so 1310kg would be more appropriate for comparison.

All weights listed are just whatever the quoted curb weights were.

Whether they're accurate or not, or with or without driver, I'm really not really fussed - it was just as a general comparision more than anything, not a point-for-point direct rundown.

There are a couple on PH at the moment but they are auto, I can't recall seeing a manual one tbh!

they never did them in a manual.

ive got an old redline dvd with a 750bhp supra on a auto box and he was giving that some serious abuse and didnt bat an eyelid so i think the auto would be ok, maybe stick a gearbox oil cooler on it just for extra safety
