Sorry for a "spec me" post.

I am looking for a laptop with gaming capabilities and have read all the recent posts about a core i5 and ATI 5650 being the holy grail for midrange gaming laptops. Have specced a Sony Vaio E-series with the following spec:

Laptop VPC-EB2X - Configurable
Your configuration: View full specifications

* Intel® CoreTM i5-450M, 2.40GHz
* Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium
* White
* 320 GB Serial ATA (5400 rpm)
* 4 GB 1066MHz DDR3-SDRAM
* Blu-ray Disc(TM) writer
* 39.4 cm LCD, 1920x1080, webcam
* ATI MobilityRadeon HD5650 1GB
* Office 2010 Starter
* McAfee® - 60 days protection
* No Adobe® Creation
* No Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom

For £718 with the *free* Bluray writer.

Are there any alternatives for this price? Will consider without the bluray.

With Blu Ray writer that's excellent value for money frankly.

That's exactly what I have been thinking. Offer runs until 28-07-10 so I still have a couple of days to decide. Have tried to spec a Dell up to equivalant but cannot change the GPU up to a 5650. Think I would buy now if it wasn't for the 5 week delivery.

Thanks for input.

Have ordered as I specced in the first post.

@DangerousDave - If the missus asks, you made me do it ok? ;)

Edit: Bluray offer ends today not 28th.

The toshiba L670-11D is around £780 and is the same spec but with a 17 inch screen instead of a 15.

Looks ideal for some decent gaming.

I considered similar, but to be honest I actually prefer the 15 inch screen. Otherwise I would have gone with the 17inch E-series. Yes I am that rare person that buys to their needs and not bigger is better.
