Hey all

As the title says my BFG GTX 295 was running at 103 degrees with the fan running at around 4000rpm while i was playing GTA 4 that is modded, im thinking this is rather too hot but did not experience any problems in the 20 minutes i played.

Room ambients are 24 degrees and the card is running idle at 66 degrees, the card is housed in a Coolermaster HAF 932.

My question is will running the card at such a high temperature do any damage to the card or cause any problems? and what is the heat threshold of this card?

Thank you

Bit on the warm side!!

Heatsink may need a bit of clean, check all case fan are operational.

Thermal and Power Specs:
Maximum GPU Temperature (in C) 105 C
Maximum Graphics Card Power (W) 289 W
Minimum Recommended System Power (W) 680 W
Supplementary Power Connectors 6-pin & 8-pin
High Dynamic-Range Lighting 128bit
Unified Architecture

If i was you do not use the 295 until you have cleaned it ie: the fan and if needed take apart and maybe use some new Thermal paste on the heatsink.

105C is the max temp for this card and you will experience lots of slowdowns in games if 105C is reached and your card will not last long either and will probably shut down.

What drivers are you using as i remember a Nvdia driver that messed up fan profiles back along?

you need to remove the fan on you Graphics Card. clean the dust out the side of the grill it full of dust. you air flow is being blocked. it no to hard to do.

Pets, smokers, house close to roads, type of cooler, type of case, place where you live.

I give a quick blow to all my stuff at least every month, sure I could leave it for longer but all it takes is 3minutes top and it's easier/better to clean it up from dust more often than let it clog up and stick for years.

I'll post some pics of my friends old Dell PC when I get home that he was wondering why is running so slow and freezes all the time. Took me ages to clean it up properly, even under motherboard there was few mm thick something that was most likely a mix of some mutated dust and cigarette smoke.

Thanks for the replies, i gave it a blast of compressed air and a nice amount of dust blew out of it, played GTA 4 again and temps reached 90 degrees so was my own fault for not maintaining the card properly. Thank you all again for the replies.

90 is still kinda warm - but that's just me I guess, I prefer cooler temps with louder fans as I can't hear **** with my headset on :P

Best bet is to dismantle the cooler and clean it properly, and replace the TIM at the same time. I did this with my older rig not cleaned for about 4 years, the noise and gpu temp dropped significantly.

Thought I'd share,
My friends dell in living room, as said before they were wondering why it runs slow and randomly freezes and is noisy !
That's how your PC will look if you don't clean it for too long,
this is only under 2yrs of non cleaning time in a room with smokers !
