Corsair H50 with viper push-pull

I found that spreading worked better on my old lapped q6600/TRUE combo as opposed to a line or a grain. Though my i7 hasnt been lapped so ive only ever used a line/grain, tbh they both gave the same results.

how did you spreading out ? with a credit card or use a cling film (around finger) to spread it out evenly.

I use H50 with a standard prolimatech paste when I getting lower temperature ! But haven't try with a megahalem cpu cooler yet.

i use the plastic screw bags that cases come with

spread the paste out evenly over the cpu ihs

then test mount the cooler

then remove to ensure good contact then mount properly :)

@Bulldog - How do you find the noise levels with two of those vipers running at 1900 rpm? Also as the H50 only comes with one fan where did you source the screws for the 2nd fan? Cheers.

The noise level is quite high for 2 viper fans (can heard alots of air pumping out) but a single fan would be better option if I were you.

Cheers. Just built my new rig last night :D I'm currently using 1 viper fan in the standard config (pulling air into the case) at 1900rpm.

I think this will be fine for gaming but for desktop use it is a bit noisy so I will switch on fan control and connect the power for the H50 to be directly off the PSU (to get the full 12v). Will hold off on the 2nd fan until I see what kind off temps I'm getting when I overclock my 920.

Adding 2nd fan of viper will be no difference mate. Only a degree or 2 of lower temperature. U're better off with just 1 fan of viper. Plug the viper PWM into cpu header pin and set PWM at the bios. It only reach approx around 1600rpm if you just playing gaming as it hardly get over high temperature anyway. Hope this help mate. The corsair power pump should be plugged into the power 3 pin on the board to spin the pump around 1400-1450rpm.
