What one to go for? please help!

USED FOR
- Games
- Cuda

Power isn't a problem as i run a coolmaster 1000w

If you don't mind the extra heat/noise go for the 470.

If you do care then get the 460.

About all there is to it really. The 470 is the faster card. The 460 gets close to the 470 when overclocked. But then you can OC the 470 as well.

i just got a zotac 470 & the core clocks well at 800 but the memory can hardly do more than stock.
id guess with an 800 core its nearly as fast as a 480 ?

Thanks HeX so 470 it is, does the brand matter? ASUS or Zotac? I think I head Zotac gets hotter? also will they both be good overclockers do you know?

can you post what you think of it in here? like what kinda temps you get? as thats all thats worrying me.

Do you seriously think a company like Nvidia would release a card that's not fit for purpose?

Like I've said before in numerous threads, the heat and noise "issue" has been greatly exaggerated, usually by disgruntled ATi users who have to suffer their own "issues" in the form of the latest few driver releases :p

Zotac offer 5 years warranty, while the Asus cost more but only offer 3 years warranty. However Asus do offer the Voltage Tweak, but not sure if it help on overclocking without upping the temp too much.

Zalman VF3000F (f for fermi) is coming out in august so buy the cheapest 470 and buy that cooler when it comes out (in the ad says august), and there you go all the benefits of 470 without noise and heat problems and greatly improve your over clocking potential.

I got the ati version and I must say its a fantastic cooler.

EDIT: for the nvidia owners (for the fanboys) the heat and noise issues are not exaggerated. It does run rather hot although it does not matter for most people but the main problem, the fan gets too loud when trying to keep those high temps down.

Depends on the person, I can not tolerate noise coming from my rig.

If Cuda is very important check out the architectural differences between GF100 (GTX 470) and GF104, in particular FP64, to see whether those differences would matter in your applications.

Also the GF100 also has ECC.

^^ Why am I not surprised :o

OT, go for the £235 Zotac here, don't hang about long as prices can go up as well as down.

Edit, already gone up by £5.

Check the chart out below taken from a review released yesterday, it should give you an idea how loud and hot the cards run, can't link to the site as it has links with a competitor on.
