Recently everything they do seems to make everything that works perfectly well, worse.

Google images... what on EARTH was wrong with it originally? It didn't become the most popular search engine because it didn't work or wasn't very good. So why change it? Its utterly crap now and doesn't actually work.

Yes, there has already been a thread about this, but its been locked because it got de-railed. But i needed to rant so here it is.

To give some sort of point to the thread, how much do you hate them? Scale of 1 to 10?

Not so much 'hate' them, but think they are very extremely overrated.

As a search engine, I really honestly (unless someone can 'try' and prove otherwise), see what difference they are, or what benefits they offer from other search engines.

Google Earth and Google Maps I admit are astounding in terms of 'quality', but Bing Maps have some fantastic extensions like the "What's Near Me".

Picassa is another great Google application (and free) which does a very very good job at what it's meant to do, pretty slick, pretty fast, easy to use although I'll probably be making it redundant soon with iLife and iPhotos.

Apart from that, I honestly haven't seen anything they produce which is of any good. Everything seems to be in Beta (and bloody well shows it's in Beta), their arrogance disgusts me. They just seem to be the Tesco of the Internet - throwing out stuff like everyone else but little care where it's come from, what the users think and just raping the market with crap.

I quite like the changes they are making. Especially with the images. Click on the color of image you think it is and it sorts them out and such.

I detest the new Google Image Search. I'm on a ludicrously slow connection here and loading all those images at once is a nightmare. What was wrong with the old image search?

Plus, clicking "basic layout" doesnt stick, and it changes to the new one every time i use the function.

I haven't got the new version yet, but when I do I'm certain that I will come on to the forum and whine that my life is over due to a change to a free service with lots of free competitors.

Yeah man. Nothing worse than people who have an opinion :( I hate that. They obviously didn't get the memo regarding the changes in protocol, preventing people from disliking something if it is free.

Surely you just move to another free product that you do like? Google images doesn't lock you in.

Say what. It only loads as many images as it did before. New images are only loaded when you start scrolling toward the bottom

I like the new design, it feels refined; what they had previously was a remenant of the early 2000s. People don't like change and that's the bottom line, really the new design is better for everybody (when it eventually rolls out to all users).

The layout of the actual search is great... Its the bit after that which kills it for me.

Half if the images i click on are blurry and i just don't like it at all that the site loads in the back ground. It works, kind of... But when compared to the old layout which was way easier to use and much more effective, its just rubbish.

How exactly does it no longer work?

It's the same but with the options down the side.

Mines not

Id show you a quick screen shot but its actually gone back to the original now, now sure why. It will probably be back shortly.

I despise this. I tried to use Bing once and stopped almost instantly because I hated the image search and this is really similar. It just feels so laggy for some reason.

It doesn't work properly for me somehow, on the first click it shows me the image in very low res/blurred, I have to click ''watch in full size'' to load the picture normally, the preview window ALWAYS gives me a blurred image. The page now hogs cpu time too and loads slower than the old one.

I see what they're trying, they're adapting their pages to make other browsers look bad and make people use chrome.
Just like youtube, opening loads of vids in different tabs made it want to ''download'' something called ''get_page'' and not load the page, luckily for firefox there was an update that fixed it...
Maps.google.com, same story, it used to work the fastest on ie, now they made it that it's a slow cpu hog on ie, but in chrome it works fast ( whereas it used to run/load slower on chrome than on ie).
Now google images :(.

Google are making their sites so that chrome is best in opening them.
