Greenpeace activists sabotage BP filing stations

So far, the only suggestions I've seen for those asking about how they'll move "beyond petroleum" is to "get a bike" or "walk".
I'd hope we'd be able to move beyond 24hr days also, as the bike just isn't that fast...

Good going.
Might try filling the car up with hopes and dreams later and seeing what sort of mpg I can get.

Ridiculous. Have nothing better to do in there lives so they go around hindering others. It would be interesting to see individual profiles of all the members.

EVERYTHING is about profit. These companies are plugging millions into alternative energy sources and the uncomfortable fact is that there isn't currently another viable source of energy that comes close to competing with oil. We have an obsession with oil, rightly or wrongly, but people need to make a living. Feed themselves and what not. You're not suggesting we go back to a system of bartering, are you?

Whilst I'm not a treehugger and don't condone the actions of greenpeace let's not get carried away with our love for oil companies (BP have no intention of developing any other type of energy source apart from deeper oil research equipment) they aren't all good guys and yes in some companies profit clearly does come above all else including safety of their workforce.

So you're saying that they are solely profit driven yet are perfectly happy having no plans for the future?

They know they have the money and knowledge to develop the next thing for use when it becomes unprofitable/legislated against to drill/sell oil for transport/energy rather than just the chemical industry.

Greenpeace is just another word for extremist - at least that's how I see them. Different beliefs and motivation sure, but still reckless idiots who are doing an absolutely fantastic job of making people hate environmentalists.

Thats a bit harsh, these people feel strongly about the Oil situation. So they caused a little bit of disruption to your "everyday life" big deal, these guys are thinking of the bigger picture in a few more years time.
.

They feel so strongly they spent decades destroying the one feasible hope of moving energy supply off oil?

these guys are thinking of the bigger picture in a few more years time.

Should have thought about that when they stopped the production of nuclear research and plants a few years ago shouldn't they?

They should be working with the country to sort out these Oil problems and move on to more renewable energy, but of curse they won't do that because of PROFIT.

They spend a lot of money on renwables/non oil research, mainly because they want something to sell when they can't sell oil.

Its all about profit with BP and large Oil companies which is shouldn't be.
Greenpeace, like PETA are a company obsessed with profits and their own salaries, and prey on those who genuinely believe in a cause.

Good point. Whenever I read a story about greenpeace I find myself siding with whatever/whoever they're protesting against, be they whalers, loggers, big oil, seal clubbers, people that enjoy punching puppies in the face....
