Was thinking about picking up a BNIB 9700 this week then I read on Engadget about the 9780 but nothing on release date, should I wait?

Will the 9700 be getting OS6 or not?

I think the 9700 won't have enough RAM to run OS6... it might still get the webkit browser update though.

I'm gnawing my fingers off in anticipation of the BB 9800 slider..!

Looks like the 9800 should be out sometime sept/oct time.

Still happy with my 9700 and i dont think im going to bother upgrading to the 9800, id buy it sim free but im not a fan of the slider phones in all honesty.

As for the 9780??...its a rumoured device, no clear date when it will be released though...could be end of yr or early next yr if anything...again not interested in it.

And from the contacts i have...theres every chance the 9700 will run OS6 albeit a more streamlined version...even if it doesnt its not the end of the world as OS5 works flawlessly for me and i have no major issues even when it comes to web browsing.

Can you set up push email on the Nokia E series? They look like nicely designed phones though I know nothing about their OS.

I'm still leaning to moving back to BB though, really do miss my QWERTY physical keyboard, I send no way near as many texts on my android device, just can't get used to it.

Am pretty sure you can...dont know if its free or paid like BB's are and neither do i know if they are any good.

Not a fan of the Nokia E series...they may be built well but theur keyboards suck and the fact it runs on Symbian is not a good combo imo...

I have a Nokia E71 and I use the Nokia push email service. The service is free of charge and it will push upto 10 POP3 and IMAP email accounts to your phone. You can sign up for free at email.nokia.com, I've used it for the past year and I have been very impressed with it. I tested the speed of service against my wife's blackberry this weekend, using POP email average time from sending email to receiving on both 8520 and E71 was 10 to 30sec seconds. Fast enough for me.

I just got the 9700 (I was going to hold off for the 9800, but decided it wasn't for me). All I can say is this is without a doubt the best phone I have ever had. Features/battery/look wise. Thoroughly thrilled with it, and it does exactly what I want and fast! So I would say if you're looking for a phone now for calls/emails then go with the 9700. If you like the look of the slider then wait a month or two for it. But in terms of holding out for a new OS, I really think the feature set will be the same. Again, it's what you need it for. I held off on the samsung galaxy S, because I don't need a "media" phone with a massive screen etc. I just wanted all my e-mails and msgs etc. in one place with a phone battery that won't die on the first day.

Exactly why I'm moving back to BlackBerry Meloco, currently trying to find a BNIB 9700 today, really need it for tomorrow! =[

Just make sure you have a contract in place for all the BIS features etc. Otherwise be prepared to spend a day on the phone getting it sorted :p

Got my 9700 today and the dock, glad to be back on a BB.

Okay so I've lost faster web browsing and loading but I prefer easier typing for long emails and very long BBM/Text chats!

Very nice! I have picked up this bad habbit of txting people as if it is bbm, and sending about 3 txts that could have all been written in one message :/.

How much slower is the web browsing compared to other phones? Myn feels pretty quick...

Slow at rendering compared to Android and iphone browsers but tbh its not that slow...the new webkit browser on the new BB OS6 is super fast and beats the Android and iphone web browsers hands down according to a few of the videos ive seen of the new webkit browser for BB's.
