new company car decision help

may be no help but a perspective from a pssenger point of view

A hotel I stay at used to pick us up from airport in an A8 or 7 series, they now use Superbs which are much more comfortable

with a soon to be 3 yr old and a wife to taxi about on day trips when we get chance so comfort is a factor,

hopefully my wife will also get her driving licence this year which means i might get the chance to be in the passenger seat.

a million percent the superb.

As said, the difference in the engines is horrific, and awful.... lol

They will do the job fine, but the car itself is a cut above when it comes to the superb.

just spoke to a very nice salesman in the Ull skoda dealership and even with it being a company purchase hes ok with me taking a Superb out for a test drive (as long as i dont take the p***) with the wife and child with me. maybe pop into a renault garage while im across the other side of the river and have a look at the megane see just how small it is if i leave with any doubt over the superb or octavia

its essentially a filter to stop any hot ash or sparks leaving the exhaust system, its a requirement of one of the refinarys i work due to health and safety, although the refinary next (producing very similar products) to it has no spark arrester reqirement and also lets on petrol engines.

Ah cool, ta :)

bmw 118d company car here, no regrets :)

Well, other than the fact you cheaped out and got the slow one because you were so tight with your company car tax. The 120d is a better car than your 118d in every possible way.

You might be wondering why I've been so harsh - well, because to be honest why are you even posting? The guy has posted his company car list, thats all he can have. He was very clear with that.

Yet you decided to pop in and tell him how happy you are with your BMW company car? Do you want a cookie or something? I'm sure he'd love a BMW (Though not a crappy 118d), but it isnt on his list so you are absolutely no use to him!

Nice friendly forum as usual!

As friendly as somebody telling a guy who is stuck with a load of Skodas and Renaults on his company car list about how you have no regrets picking your BMW, a car he cannot have?

It frustrated me, especially as everyone else has tried hard to help the guy pick from what is a pretty cruddy list of cars.

Everyone else was thinking the same as me, but they have more manners and thought better of saying anything ;)

There are numerous threads in whcih it is entirely appropriate to tell everyone how happy you are with a BMW. The thread of somebody with a rubbish company car list trying to make the best of a bad selection is not it.

Unless you want me to pop into your 'I went camping in Cornwall on holiday' thread with 'Well I am very happy with me trip to America!' as it amounts to the same thing :p

You bet ya, 4 on the floor! Full sunroof and FM radio too! G31 TUE!!

What a car.

I bet you had the brown velour, i had the velour in my Cortina of that era :)

Bah my maths sucks, it was a Sierra by then, never drink and type children.

Question

Why is the 1.9 still even available what with the 2.0 which I assume was designed as its replacement.

On that note

Why are Audi still using the 1.8T in the A3/A4 surely its time to drop it and stick with the 2.0T

Because they use it as a base model engine.

They are not - the 1.8T is long gone. The 1.8T you now see is an all new 1.8TFSI engine, which fills the lower end of the range.

You wouldnt assume that the 2011 Mondeo 2.0 has the same engine as a 1998 Mondeo 2.0 so I dont understand why you assume that current 1.8T Audi's are the same as old 1.8T Audi's :p
