Who created God?

I met him once, he lives in Warwick these days and said something about a book with someone called jaymans and a coffin with 3 chefs in a barn conversion.

Right, so you're not agreeing that the physical contents of the universe could have just always been? Or do you think that someone/something/whatever must have ~created~ the contents of the universe?

Why's the notion, of something always being, a silly one? Why can't the universe being something that's ALWAYS been expanding and contracting (exploding from a singularity, expanding to it's maximum, then contracting back to the original singularity, ad infinitum)?

Think this is based on String theory; well this is what I understood from The Elegant Universe anyway:

Essentially there are an infinite amount of universes floating freely in a hyperspace which is infinite space and time. These Universes all have different laws of physics; some are able to support life some are not. When two collide it causes a huge explosion called a big bang and ultimately a new universe is formed (like ours). Ours can support life due to the mystery of how weak gravity is in comparison to the other forces (i.e. why we aren’t all crushed by the entire Earth’s force of gravity). It’s weaker than electromagnetism by some figure with 11 zeros after it. This is theorised because gravity is actually leaking out of a universe that is floating parallel to ours. This also supports the reason why gravitons disappear as soon as they are created in colliders as they're essentially sat in a parallel universe of which we could never view but we can still measure their effect. Furthermore it also explains why the whole of space is being pulled towards a point in the sky in the Centaurus and Vela constellations.

If Time is infinite, how did all other starts and galaxies come into existance from nothing? that is a more mind boggling question.

Allah asks in the Quran:

35. Were they created out of nothing? Or were they themselves the creators?

36. Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they are sure of nothing!

(52:35-36)

Most deny or ignore the existence of The Creator because they cannot see Him. However, there are many things which we do not see, but yet we believe in their existence. Further, most of us believe in creatures which exist yet undiscovered and undocumented.

The Scientific Proof

Let us imagine ourselves standing in a laboratory stocked with beakers and test tubes containing all sorts of chemical compounds. Then suppose an earthquake has just occurred upsetting the shelved vessels, sending their contents spilling onto the laboratory floor. It would be a very strange coincidence indeed to find new life forms generating themselves where none had existed before.

You might say, 'Your analogy didn't account for time - these organisms need time to evolve.' We ask, 'How much time should we have allowed? Was there enough time since the beginning of the universe to allow for their self-induced formation?'

Let's hear from Swiss mathematician Charles Eugene Jai. In an experiment aimed at answering this very question, Jai set out to calculate the probability of the random formation of a single protein molecule. Jai 'helped' the situation by assuming the existence of formative elements, and by selecting a protein consisting of only 2,000 atoms (An average protein might consist of 32,000 atoms or more). Jai also assumed that the protein would consist of only 2 unique formative atoms.

He determined the value of probability by considering the size of the material and the time necessary for the random formation to occur. He calculated that the probability of forming even a simplified protein molecule was approximately 1 in 5 x 10 e+320 !

The size of the material necessary to produce that almost zero probability would have been a sphere with a diameter of approximately 6 x 10 e+176 miles - about 10 e+63 times bigger than the imagined size of the universe. Finally, the time necessary for the molecule to form was 10 e+243 billion years. This was far greater than the supposed age of the universe - only about 2 billion years.

He concluded that the universe was neither old enough, nor big enough to allow for the random formation of even a simple protein molecule. It was impossible for the universe to have created itself, and for life to randomly form. We must then consider another course. There is a Creator who created the universe.

Have a read.

a lot of people think that god is bigger then the universe but i think universe gave birth to god and it can not be any physical object. if there are multiple universes and other dimension then god is just and intelligent spiritual form of energy just like us humans who are part of the divine creator. how universe came to be is totally different question when time may not even exist in the universe. i think the problem we can't understand this or answer this is because we try to explain everything from our own current state of reality that we can not imagine or accept other possibilities.

A core tenet of science is that these kinds of calculations and theories are disproved and found to be incorrect over time - either that or they are expanded and worked on. A millennia ago, people just like you were claiming indisputable proof that God made it so that the Earth was literally in the centre of the universe. Now we've just moved on to trying to twist it around what we know and grasp today. It is still humongously more likely that either the particular individual in your quote got his calculation wrong or that we simply haven't really found out just exactly how large or how old the universe really is, than it is likely there is a deity.

Are we allowed to believe in some sort of 'creator' without the ridiculousness that is religion?

That would be agnosticism, something I'm signed up for myself. (There are several bands of agnosticism, from the 'I sort of believe in Jesus' to the other extreme end of 'I don't think Jesus or God exists at all, but SOMETHING had to start this whole existence... somehow')

yes you would be agnostic, so god made us and left us to our own devices.

agnostic someone that sits on the fence and cant make their mind up.

Or someone who thinks something started everything but thinks all the religions are absolute ridiculous and baffling examples of behaviour...
