Does anyone know how much electricity a reclining chair uses?

Is electricity being consumed all the time or only when one uses the controls? (Full Power Scotty!)

I asked in a couple of furniture shops and no one seemed to know.

probably only uses any significant amount when the motors being used

Odd question. The chairs cost over a k, well the good ones do anyway. Is a couple of pound a year in bills really a deal breaker or something to worry about?

Well he's asking if the power is being used all the time, and if it was, it could certainly be quite a hefty cost. If the OP thought maybe it used a kW or something then the cost of running one would be insane. However, the power will be quite low (I'm not quite sure on the capabilities of a 100W motor but I can't imagine a reclining chair needing more than one of them), and it will not be running all the time.

I can confidently say the chair would use less than a tenth of the energy of a kettle, assuming you aren't going to be sat there doing "chair goes up, chair goes down" all the time.
