GeForce GTX 460 SLI Performance vs. AMD GPUs

I hate how they present their results, hard to read at a glance and hard to take anything meaningful away from it :S

I like their ethos though that try and test real world

The 460s are factory overclocked versions bear in mind.

So I have it that the 460s beat the 5970 2 out of 3 (close though), I doubt Nvidia could produce a 495GX2 using 2 of these GPUs though, power would be well over 300W TDP which I doubt they would do.

Actually the test is very poorly done.

Overclocked GTX460's in SLI. vs a stock HD5850 is hardly a worthwhile comparison. Its even worst considering the test games used.

A pair of overclocked GTX460's are 12 frames per second faster than a single stock HD5850 running Metro 2033 at 2560x1600.

I nearly fell off my chair overwhelmed with surprise.

Interesting how the single card has much more stable performance compared to the dual card setups.
Some very big variations between the peaks and troughs.

How come I cant add a image ? That's about the forth time an image has just vanished.

a pair of GTX460 have minimum frame rates higher than a 5870 not 5970, in those three tests, 11fps more in metro2033, 13fps more in splinter cell, and BBC2 was nearly twice more 31fps vs 16fps

so I nearly fell of my chair too.

You need to go to spec savers.

That's 460 SLI v single 5870 your blabbing on about.

wow...and the GTX460s are only factory overclocked to 810MHz. I wonder what performance would a pair of GTX460s with voltage tweak overclocked to 900~950MHz in SLI be like...

Hope someone can give some results...

you need to learn to count.

it was actually the 5870 i was talking about.

even with a slight typo of 5970 instead of 5870, its easy for anyone who has attended high school, to see which two cards i was referring too.

"135 MHz above the GPU core reference clock rate, 270MHz above the Shader core reference clock, and 400MHz higher than NVIDIA’s reference memory clock"

Thats quite a big overclock IMO.

LoL you fail, get it right first time, " 460 SLI has better min than 5970 in those thee tests " yeah what else are people meant to think you were referring to, check it out 460 SLI @ 810Mhz beats a stock 5870...surprising..:o

so why couldn't you read the charts yourself and see I meant to put 5870.
