Plane Crash in Pakistan

Why is it always 3rd world countries that have fatal plane crashes, are the planes that bad and treated like crap.

Planning ahead isn't a strong point in 3rd world countries. In fact I have a theory they evolved that way, whereas people in more wintery climes (N Europe/NE Asia) evolved to take it more seriously.

Don't know about your theory but theres been loads of aircrashes involving america, british, french airlines etc.

The only ones I can think of are when they are blown up by 3rd world people (Libya) or flying from 3rd world countries (Brazil).

When was the last fatal air crash involving a British airline?

Given I've had approximately ten seconds to think about this and I am most likely way off, I'm going to hazard a guess at British Airtours at MAN.

The fire that as a 5-year old scared the bejesus out of me everytime we went on holiday, as we would always fly from there.

*edit* - in fact no, Kegworth must have been the last one?

Turkish at AMS not so long back.

AA at JFK just after 9/11.

Air France over the North Atlantic.

Thats a couple plucked straight off the top of my head without even thinking about it.

BA038 was a very, very lucky escape too.

*another edit* A Lufthansa MD11 went in hard day before yesterday. Broke in two on landing and there's not much left of it to salvage. Luckily the crew made it out ok.

A few, over a few decades, considering how many flights take off each day from the UK we have an amazing record, I cant think of any since 2001 (fatal British)
