Camping Equipment

Camping in a field in Hainault Forest Country Park, 3 days / 2 nights next week.

Literally just sleeping inside it, out of the two I just posted, the 2 man has the groundsheeted "porch", but the 3 man doesn't.

I would always go for the extra space.

If you are going to do more than one trip, you would get a lot more for an extra £20.

What kind of camping? Will you be wanting a gas stove?

In the future, probably. Next week though, it looks like I'll be the only one who would actually consider taking a stove and using it. Everyone else thinks it's a bit silly? As you can tell, this is a festival I'm going to.

I was wandering around Blacks yesterday during lunch and they had a 2 man tent, 2 roll mats and 2 sleeping bags for £29.99. Its not going to perform very well at Everest base camp but for a few nights in some field/park I reckon it would do the trick.

Sounds like good advice! ^

I've just found it for £32, looks like a winner.

You have the main tent, then a flysheet over it. It didn't let any water in and it was raining all night with a couple of torrential downpours. The groundsheet is very thick and it's easy to pitch. It's a brilliant tent for the money and light.

Get a tent at least one man bigger than you need, so if 2 of you are in there get absolutely minimum of 3man tent and prefferably a 4man tent.

Good advice. We did this at Silverstone - four of us camping so bought a six man tent which wasn't much difference in price.

you can't go camping without a stove, its like having sex but not finishing.

You can get those ones that come in a carry case, you plug in aerosol can and away you go, £10 from most places and bout £1-£2 for each can. And you'll save money, food in festivals or anything like it is always horrible and a rip off.

I'm tempted to, but for 2 nights of cooking, I'd rather just get a greasy half pounder burger (with cheese and bacon) *drool* this one time.

Plus I'll be cooking for myself probably, so I'll have the mess to wash up, food to carry, stove to carry etc.
