NVIDIA's march into the mainstream graphics segment with graphics processors derived from the Fermi architecture is headed by the GF106 GPU. One of the first SKUs based on it us the GeForce GTS 450. PCB drawings of its reference board surfaced last week. According to fresh details sourced by Donanim Haber, NVIDIA pushed back the launch of GTS 450 from 31st August to 13th September. The site also sourced clock speeds of the SKU, which are 789 MHz (core), and 3760 MHz or 940 MHz actual (memory). The GPU on this SKU has a 128-bit wide memory interface, carrying 1 GB of GDDR5 memory. NVIDIA is targeting the $160 price point with the GTS 450.

Go on then. What sauce ?

Late late date for its appearance, GF100 sucked in terms of sales volume and profit, GF104 is priced competitively for the first time in ages, but its 10% bigger than a 5850 and costs 10% less, and the 5850 is tight on profit as it is meaning GF104 probably isn't a money spinner for Nvidia. GF106 was supposed to be(from talk before/around talk of the GF100) only a month or two behind it. IF it launches mid September its likely to be fighting AMD's 6xxz series within a couple months. ALso not quite sure if mid September will mean it misses all the prebuilt manufacturers back to school design cycle or not.

Hmm, only just noticed, does it not have 6 memory chips on it, wouldn't that seem like a 768MB card, and also, not 128mbit? Which would probably mean that pcb is for a cutdown version, 768MB and 96mbit bus.

seems to be a lot of rumours running around about this, 128bit / 192bit 1024meg / 768 meg....who knows. i thought the 450 was going to be using the the gf104 chip same as the gtx460, but maybe not.

this image has been posted up in the responses to the expreview article, make of it what you will.

Yup, the OP info says 450GTS, but thread title says gtx.

Its likely the info is similarly mistaken, bus width and memory amount go hand in hand. 1.5gb no a 450gtx is doable, it would have the same lower bus as a 460gtx, the 768mb version that is, just double the memory.

AS said the PCB is for a 768/1.5gb card, with a 192mbit bus, most likely, or even lower if the 450gts is a significantly slower card based on the gf106 along with misleading name, so that kind of fits for Nvidia. ;)

A 450GTX you'd think would just be a lower clocked and probably one more shader cluster missing 460gtx, a 450gts should be significantly slower, which would take a huge drop in shaders or clock speed to achieve and isn't likely, or as said is based on the next core down.
