Corsair H50 - did I have to peel off the grey sticker?

Just to make sure - the 930 CPU doesn't have a sticker, but the H50 has a copper contact and a smaller circle grey sticker.
I was wondering if the thermal paste on the H50 is already attached to the grey sticker or if it has to be peeled off completely to reveal the therma paste?

Are you sure it's actually a sticker? Minie was a grey disc of compound that had to be scraped off, then the copper cleaned. If you don't have any replacement compound for the 'sticker' just use the stuff corsair provide, it will be fine. Read the instructions?

Check this youtube clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUxoFiFuS_g from Corsair themselves @ 1:20 minutes where they explain how it works.

Edit: I have looked at the instructions manual and it doesn't mention peeling off or scraping off anything or even applying thermal paste - so I guess It's Ok as it is.

That is a layer of pre applied shin etsu thermal compound, which is usually thought to be quite good. Leave it on unless you plan on using something like as5 or mx-2/3/4.

Best way to test whether it's a sticker or paste is mount the H50, then remove it and look at the CPU. If the CPU has the same stuff on it, then it's paste. If it's clean, it's either crap paste or a sticker, and I'd remove it and put some paste on there. Artic Silver's good.

The grey stuff is the thermal compund. Don't wipe this off, would be very unwise. However the clear sticker that covers it saying "please remove before mounting", remove that.

:p

As mentioned, don't remove the grey stuff which is in fact thermal paste. It's really good and better than most aftermarket thermal pastes. I don't think Corsair even use a sticker to protect the base, they use a plastic cap.
