Pick a car from this list

All of them and merge all the bits together to create a 353305id coup-loon.

Seriously though, is the question of reliability of the 335 (i or d) centered around the turbos themselves? What sort of mileage are we looking at for them to have been called into question already! or are you thinking more long term?

BMW 330i M Sport Coupe (E92)

All the pace I would need, decent fuel economy, great looks.

Second choice would be the 530i, if I needed a 5 door, for the same reasons.

1, 2 and a Mustang are my considerations for my next car.

I'd quite into my modded though and with the 335i there is a lot to play with thanks to the turbos.

The 330i is quick enough but I know in 6 months time after buying one I'd want to be able to remap it and get more.

I read somewhere a remapped 335i is the same sort of beast as an E46 M3.

So I'm throwing away the 330i (unless when I come to buy I find this is the model I can afford) and left to decide between a 335i and a Mustang GT.

Pick one. Or **** them all off.

Your choice.

None of the above, I would want the daddy car, the genuinely sporty M series version. Although if the 335i shares absolutely everything but the engine and aesthetics with the M3 then that, but I sincerely doubt it does. Non M series sport BMW's are not drivers cars that can handle a serious hoon these days, they are cruisers cars imo.

335i; it's fastest and not displeasing to the eye. I would never buy a car I don't like the looks of, like the Merc S (W220) for example, it can be the best car in the world, but the lights spoil everything.

It was not an option.

Yes you're right. They appear to offer BMW performance diffusers but not the different exhaust system. Shame.

The M carbon diffuser looks better, but doesn't make the exhaust look any cheaper.

Its a shame BMW seem to have dropped their links with ACS. When I had mine I could go into my main dealer and order specific ACS parts from their catalogue - they didn't interfere with my BMW warranty either.

I'd say the 330i or the 530i. (For you most likely the 530i as the 3 will feel like a step down to what you are used to)

I would have loved to say the 335i after having driven one quite extensively but the reliability would scare me. 2 friends have them, one has had a new set of turbos after 15k and the other one numerous niggles.

I'm guessing the newer and more reliable single turbo face lift model is out of price range?

An E92 BMW M3 costs in excess of £30,000. I'm not really sure how relevent your comment is. It's very much like saying don't buy a Mazda MX5, buy a Ferrari 360 Spider instead.

a few issues ago Evo did a 'if i had £40k should i buy a used 360 spider, or brand new Boxter v6....'

maybe there is method in the maddness?

If you have £40k you can afford to purchase either of those cars. If you have 07 335i money you cannot afford to purchase an M3. It could be the best car in the universe, run on free fuel, and come with free oral sex - it doesnt change the fact they are £30,000+.

M3 discussion is useless. Might as well say why not get a Veyron?

Thread is going a bit off the beaten track with the 'buy an XXX instead'. The choices were set out in the first post.

Fox, which one are you going to pick?
